Anyone think Orsini is behind the leak about contacting Troy Calhoun? What benefit would Air Force have in giving out that information?
Could this be his way of showing the trustees that he made every effort to find a coach on List A? Or is he trying to lower expectations so the real hire seems like a WOW?

Sounds pretty thin to me. I don't think the trustees are worried that he's not aiming high enough.

Not that he's aiming high, but that he's done his due dilligence to find a coach without a past, and now we're digging in the bottom of the barrell when Barnett, Neuheisel, and Bowden are available--2 of whom said they want this job.

Not the trustees thinking its a WOW hire. That part was for the fans, media, and recruits.
Sorry, I guess I did not clarify my conspiracy theory well enough!

One guy takes more money at a BCS school and now we're scraping the bottom of the barrel?

Air Force like SMU is not a BCS school they're in the MWC. That said, I would be surprised if Calhoun bolted this fast from his alma mater. Good coach who has shown that he can beat TCU. But if he doesn't come here, then I agree that Orsini can go to Turner and the Trustees with a clear conscience and say, look, we can hire Phil Bennett, Jr. or we can hire Gary Barnett who has built programs in the past. If we hire Phil Bennett, Jr., I'm going to have to release these donors from their pledges, because they were funding a WOW hire. That way Turner will know that money is going out the door either way.

our donors don't seem to have a backbone either which is really the amazing part.
