TERRY BOWDEN or Air Force Coach, hmmmm let me see???

Postby gambino87 » Sat Dec 08, 2007 4:15 am

Seriously, what’s the deal? We have Bowden drooling all over SMU and we ask to talk to the head coach at the Air Force Academy (ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!). This is now comical............. Orsini/Turner need to suck up their pride, admit they made a mistake, and start kissin Terry's @ss.

I've heard that Bowden has said he's interested and others on here say he's said he's not interested. What's the real story?

The Air Force coach, Troy Calhoun, will be a highly sought commodity in a couple of years. Not only was he the offensive coordinator at Wake Forest under Jim Grobe for a few seasons but also spent time as an understudy to Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan before being the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans. Calhoun in his first year took Air Force from a 4-8 season one year ago to 9-3 in his first year. They have consistently been just outside the Top 25 are always in the "other votes" section. He was also just named the MWC coach of the year.

Calhoun is the real deal.

But dont worry...he's not interested in the Pony job. He will be coaching a BCS team before its all over.

Who ever said Bowden was interested in the SMU job? I haven't seen that reported anywhere. Granted, his marketing people are all over this message board, but I haven't seen any official reports that he has expressed interest in this job. (just that ridiculous list on ESPN that only says Bowden, Bob Davie, and Fran!)

Early on in this process I spoke to TB about the SMU opening and he gave me the typical response you give a car salesman after he is finished bloviating about how great his car is. He basically said "SMU is a good place and we will see - yada yada." I interpreted this to mean he is not interested - yet. I have not spoken to him since.

I bet Bowden would consider SMU at this point in the game for the salary that it is supposdely offering.

Maybe if somebody actually called him to ask him, he might answer the question?

I recall hearing him say in a radio interview that he couldn't comment on an potential jobs during the season. Well - the season is over.
