Were you around in 1999, Jones first year at Hawaii? When he took over a winless team and immediately won 9 games and the conference title? People in Hawaii were naming their kids after him. In 9 years as head coach he's been to 7 bowl games, and won 9+ games 6 times.
He gets no attention from the media for the same reason Hawaii in general gets no attention, distance and the time difference. How many people were watching Hawaii's comeback against Washington, that finished at 2 AM? It's not in the Dallas newspaper, I will grant you that, but that doesnt mean it didnt happen.
His time in Atlanta was up and down, more down than up. His offense is one dimensional, and needs the right personnel to function, but he has been very succesful at Hawaii.
I seriously doubt he has any interest in coming here, even for lots of money. In Hawaii he's one of the most popular men in the state.

Maybe he's tired of the same old 70-degree weather every day. "Looks the same, feels the same, looks the same, feels the same..."
"What? I have a chance to be on national TV with my hand-made QB star/second son, who I've put a lot of effort into promoting? No, that's alright, I think I'll hang out promoting a book for a friend at Borders instead. Call them up and tell them the book signing is still on!"
I'm not saying it's SMU but it sounds like Jones has something better to do this weekend...and the only thing I can think of that's better than promoting yourself nationally would be to interview for a job you're pretty sure you're going to take. Again, SMU is unlikely but that might be a pretty solid indication that June is on the move.
Now that SMU will interview Gary Barnett, keep in mind that Coach Barnett has won Championships everywhere he has coached and I'm sure Stallion would tell you Barnett has done so in many cases with inferior talent to his opponents.
Think Orsini and June Jones are using each other? Jones to get a raise and Orsini to add one more to the I tried to get the best coach available without a past list, now let's go out and get the best coach in America!?!?!?
(not that we wouldn't take him if he surprisingly accepted)
Isn't June Jones interested in the UCLA job? If he's going to "rebuild" another program, I would guess it would be UCLA and not SMU. Who knows??
What about talking to Will Muschamp? He needs to cut his teeth somewhere and he is supposedly a great recruiter.
What about Jim Donnan? He had great success as the OU OC in the 80's, basically got Marshall back into the national spotlight, and did a good job at UGA. Although, he has a sweet deal as an analyst and radio guy...
I hope SO and GT are thinking of every possibility... I am ready for SMU football to get back!
