Anyone with NEW news?

Post by huskerpony »

I think we have derailed a bit! Let's at least have one thread here with our eye on the ball.

Anyone out there have any new info?
Spoken with anyone on the inside recently?
Do we have any new updates other than the new Sporting News rumor list?
Orsini in town?
Turner in town?
Are the trustee's meeting?
Anyone know what was said at their meeting Thursday?
Are the lights on at Ford?

I think the deadline is some time next year. I really think we will have a coach by then.

I agree. I'm hoping we interviewed an [deleted] load of people since Thursday and have made another offer or at least have one in the works tonight.
no...theres a deadline coming up now for the holidays then you can resume recruiting somepoint after newyears
.................Why are you so worried about recruiting this year right now ?? It is not going to get any better unless we get a great coach that can recruit. Sure there has been screw ups with this long term wait, but at this point, we have to get this coaching hire right..... I mean you need to remember that Rivals rated our recruiting class in 2006 #107 and last year we finished with Rivals rating of #99. Our team just finished 1-11. Getting all 2 star guys and a couple of 3 Star guys will not cut it........... Orsini knows this and even if we get all 2 star guys this year, it is OK because with a good coach, the future in coaching and recruiting will get better. Right now all we can do is get the right coach and hopefully he can recruit a few good players this year late.

The Sporting News said yesterday that June Jones was stopping in Dallas on the way back to Hawaii from the Heisman ceremony. Any news on that ?

what's often forgotten is that there is another Dead Period the week after the bowl games for the Football Coaches Convention. We are in deep Do Do right now. These classes are filling up-visits are being scheduled. This ain't 1980 when recruits make decisions in January-kids make decisions in June now. I haven't checked lately but probably 75% of the best players have ALREADY committed-many of the rest are academic risks. This is stacking up as one of the worst recruiting classes in memory.

Just this local report, that JJ cancelled his weekend events and then they were all back on (indicating he did not go to the ceremony)
