The worst part about the whole loss of Johnson situation is that there wasn't even any real deal making taking place until the season ended. I really think Orsini for whatever reason has made some huge mistakes with this hiring process.

SHULA is the only one i could picture but hes not an OC

SMU Blog,

I used to respect you and your opinion but now it sounds like you are a blind supporter of SMU regardless of the moves the school makes. Now, I'm not talking about being a blind fan (because we will all always be fans no matter what), but rather a supporter of complete bone headed moves. I can live with Orsini getting getting a coach other then names mentioned on this board (such as Bowden, Barnett..) but to not even consider and talk to a top caliber coach and hear what he has to say is insanity. It's kind of like when you make up in your mind what kind of car you want before actually looking at and testing others. BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW! Orsini may think one thing of Bowden for example, but then after talking to him may decide, wow this guy really wants to be here, he has a plan, he has been studying C-USA, he is determined, he is willing to take a pay cut till he can prove he is worth it, etc....... You just don't know these things till you at least talk. It is free to call Bowden. But to have predispositions and make unwarranted decisions based on what may turn out to be groundless hearsay, to me, is a blunder of monumental proportions. It could totally be one of those moments where we say in 10 years, "how dum were we to pass on this guy", "shame on us, we deserve to be a perennial 1-11 team". Talking doesn't mean hiring (only requires picking up the phone). As far as SMU goes, all options should be on the table. Again, I am not yelling at us to get Bowden, but I am yelling at the fact that we are not talking to those types of coaches. And by the way, being out of college football is not going to hurt a coach who once had major success at an SEC school. This is college football, not rocket science.

Blog doesn't make those decisions. Write a letter to Orsini or Turner who do. I'm more and more convinced that none of these so-called head coaches with a proven track record are even in the picture. Either we swung and missed, they aren't interested or SMU has eliminated them. Every day that goes by convinces me more because we had to have rated these guys and would have immediately contacted the alternative after Johnson said No. Surely, we just didn't start over with Johnson's decision

Seriously doubt we are interviewing NFL coaches on game day. Especially ones that don't live near Dulles (min. 1 1/2 to B-more, closer to 2 hrs., can take over 3 if the beltway is jammed)

I just emailed Orsini about my concerns about the article and he responded that the search is thorough and proceeding according to his expectations. It might be/probably is a form letter but he did select the right one...which shows that he at least read my email enough to understand its content. I found that pretty smart and mildly reassuring.

well, someone else email Steve O the same question and we'll see if the same response is gotten. If it's verbatim, you know how things are rolling.

Look, Orsini is embarrasssed...he thought PJ was a friend, and he was used. Basically he looks like a fool on national TV.
Turner want's a saint and there is no such thing in football. Turner is just starting to discover that he precided over nothing im terms of athletics! His good buddy "Copeland" and the junior college Turner attended tought him everything he needs to know..he doesn't need alumni input or face up to the fact that the majority of university presidents know that their jobs sometimes depend upon success on the gridiron. That's why Ole Miss was too hot a fire!
Most college presidents understand no one will fire them over a mediorcre English department.
