John L. SmithNot saying he is my first, second, or fifth choice but he has head coaching experience, has won, has built up a program at Louisville, does not have any baggage, and wants to get back into coaching.....

Again, we could do worse. And I suppose he would be admired by Turner for turning around the academic situatation as MSU.
With the success Erickson is having, a disciple of his sure looks more enticing... Also showed some recruiting chops -- from '04-'06 his classes at MSU averaged 28th in the country.
Wash St is apparently hiring Paul Wulff from Eastern Washington.

I don't know about that, but he and his wife are checked into every hotel in Dallas tonight. Just send 'da money.
Another good choice. Not a lot of splash, but a solid, veteran coach.
John L Smith - good choice Rick Neuheisel - good coach but no way SMU hires him Terry Bowden - ditto Gary Barnett - ditto Mike Shula - was once revered as a strong recruiter (i.e. getting Greg McElroy to Bama), and clearly must have climbed in reputation as a coach - haw drawn rave reviews for his work with David Gerrard Dirk Koetter - I'd love this choice ... he made Boise State something more than "that place with the goofy blue field" Paul Pasqualoni - has anyone even mentioned this guy since the day after it was announced Coach Bennett was not going to come back? Hope not[ Turner Gill - would be a great choice, but reportedly wanted Nebraska or to stay in Buffalo (maybe he's not that smart after all - who wants to stay in Buffalo?)[ June Jones - home run "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

I'm in. Still think Barnett would be better, but he'd be acceptable.
Do we know if he has any past problems? More importantly, is HE willing to work at a SCHOOL with a PAST?
This guy is quickly becoming my favorite candidate...
Chances of us becoming respectable, regradless of what coach we hire, about 7%.... At least there is no denying this guy will at least be entertaining along the way. I can't wait to see the meltdown after 3 of our punts are blocked and Willis fumbles for the 7th time in the half.
