Plus, he managed to screw up the school colors during his abbreviated stint on the Hilltop.

the mavs, cowboys and rangers only allow people reentry if you get scanned out. smu doesn't have the capabilities to scan except for the club and suites. once/if the rest of the stadium can scan tickets, i'm sure they'll allow reentry.

they can't sell beer in the stadium cuz the university attorney's won't allow it. the old marketing guy, shawn (?), has tried to convince them to sell it the last few years he was here.

This is EXACTLY what happens at SMU, I had just never been able to put together a phrase like this!!! With the football stadium security, the "BULLY"VARD policies (charging, and the SS troops guarding the entrance), SMU totally acts like AA when we should be like SW Airlines.

SMU is small enough that it SHOULD have a family feel to it - the people in the Athletics Dept. should be able to relate with fans on a more personal level than what happens at UT, A&M, etc.

But, instead of feeling more appreciated by SMU as a fan, I end up feeling less appreciated, and even not needed. In the end, I am more upset w/ SMU policies b/c I know they are not justified. If I were at UT, I would say, oh well, I'm just one of 80k people here at the game, but at SMU, when you are the only person in your section of the stadium, its harder to feel that way.

In the end, an institution's culture comes from the top....take that however you wish...

I'm wondering if some of this stuff is caused by outside forces, like UP zoning board folks, or Texas ABC, or some such stuff. I remember when I went to William and Mary, frats wheeled kegs into the stadium and the cops helped them. Then some UVA student asked the ABC Board why W&M could wheel kegs into the stadium and they couldn't. There went the leniency. After that we got frisked and had to learn how to properly stash a flask.

That's exactly what it is. Gerald J. Ford sits on the exact line between Dallas county and either HP or UP...whichever, and it is a dry city/borough. If it were built about 100 feet towards 75, then there might be no problem at all. But it sits in a dry county/city/borough.
