Regardless of whether Orsini used the term "WOW", he did say "best available coach in America", which implies MORE THAN WOW. Even if he never said any of that, though, SMU NEEDS a WOW hire. A ho hum coordinator/no-name from the DII ranks will not cut it this time. So, I think everyone is justified in using the term "WOW" if they want.

This is funny how people equate "the best available coach in America" or whatever that line was to WOW.

Not only is it lazy thinking, it's a also a complete misinterpretation.

What Orsini thinks is the best coach may not be your idea of the best coach. Better defer to him on this one.

He also said he was not "willing to limit his pool of candidates." Why haven't Bowden, Barnett, Mason, et al., been contacted?

Glad you think so. I happen to not. Like jt opined, if Orsini hires X, the question is legitimately asked, "Is X the best available coach in America?" Thanks for your $0.01, though.

I think you are right general. Orsini knows the situation here and the best possible for coach for this situation may not be a wow HC, but he may be the best candidate out there for what we need to do here. This is a long term project. Who fits that model Stallion?

I'm not searching for the coach so I don't know. This was brought up on another thread. The coaches say the haven't been contacted. But maybe their agents have?

Actually I saw a quote from the agent for both Bowden and Neuheisal who said both would be interested but neither had been contacted.

Well, I suppose the agent could have been lying, if that's what you mean. But that would be rank speculation whereas my belief that they have not been contacted is corroborated by the agent's statement.

What's the world coming to, I agree with the General and Bigdaddy at the same time. Somebody let me know if hell feezes over today.

Just to be clear, I think the agent works for Bowden and Bower not Bowden and RN.
