Bower doesn't have a timetable due to current team obligations so that should eliminate him. If you guys would listen to what Orsini has said and stop pulling clues from these stupid blogs you might get closer to knowing who we will hire. I still say Todd Graham.
and if you're wrong TBA...can i kick you in the nutts?

Todd Graham vs Jeff Bower?
Who would you think would be a better fit at SMU?

If not Jeff Bower, what about Jack Bauer?

With Turner's stance on coaches with a past, I just can't see us taking Bower. It would be brought up over and over with the media. I'll take Shula or Todd Graham, just to name two. Coker had a great record, but it was gangster U down at Miami. Not to mention, he is almost 60, and looks 100.

It would be safe to state that SMU will not be offering Mr. Bower a contract tonight, tomorrow, or Friday. There is nothing to even suggest that it would happen, this is simply a rumor, an untrue one.

No one should be passing judgement on Bower.....he was the freakin QB's coach and I'm sure there were many involved in the improprieties including the coaching staff, alumni, and admin....
Let's not crucify the guy.
Besides, that was over 20 years ago so people should focus on what he has done over the past 20 years......run a clean, successful, winning program.
http://www.coachbower.com/
He even has his own site with a section dedicated to "know the rules".
This guy has more class and integrity than Terry Bowden or Fran. We would be fortunate to obtain his services. If Orsini pulled his head out, we would have given him an offer already.
What better karma then someone that was there during the "golden era" to bring us back from the dead. Give em the offer already Orsini!!!
I can already see ESPN doing a segment on this turnaround.

FWIW, he's not mentioned in 'A Payroll to Meet.' (I found the correct thread.)

Then he should be able to win the compliance trivia when he goes to one of our bball games.
He would be fine by me - not that anyone cares - I will still go to games, as long as he assures me he can get the ball in from the one.

Let's hope its not Bower. He is a complete retread.
Why did S. Miss. fire him.... Because he couldn't get them to the next level. He could go 7-4 , 8-3 in a weak conference but not compete with lower tier BCS programs.
Granted this type of record makes SMU look like the Patriots but we don't need a "good" coach we need a great one.
If Bower had been offered, we would have a PC about 5 minutes later. He would jump at the chance to get to Dallas and out of the cesspool of Post Katrina Southern Mississippi.

I'm with Dwan. If Barnett, who would be WAY better, is excluded, then I just don't see how someone who was on the DP staff can't be a possibility.

Coach Bower would be a good hire for SMU.

Yawn is right, Kilmer.
Bower put us to sleep 28-7 back in October & played subs in the 4th Qtr to keep it from being more of an embarrassment; our lowest offensive output during Cusa by the way.
Not my 1st choice, but he would be a good one.
