The FSU remarks about SMU just giving up are very telling. Losing does that to a team. The article also makes reference to the announced attednace as 14014. Guess that means ticket sales were different than the fans int he stands. How many were actually there for homecoming?

I wasn't there, but an announced Homecoming crowd of 14k probably means about 10k actually attended. Don't remember how many season ticket holders we have, but I'm sure lots of them didn't attend. I'm sure there were some students who picked up tickets but decided not to attend, also.

I wonder at what point in the game Fresno players felt our guys "gave up". I know I personally did when Fresno scored their 2nd TD. It's tough to get/stay excited when you know our team is incapable of scoring 20 pts in a game.

The 14k number was probably pretty close to accurate. The student turnout was the largest since early in the season and, surprisingly, they did not leave immediately after half time (presumably because we had a lead).

Zero Fresno fans on hand.

If a team gives up that means the coach has lost the team.

Attendance was actually respectable yesterday for an 0-8 team. There were people coming and going constantly. Just because people don't stay in their seats or leave, doesn't mean their torn ticket doesn't count. Is the NCAA standard that you have to stay all four quarters and sing alma mater to count? No.

I10Pony, youre wrong about that. Losing teams get demoralized at various points in any season. Bennett isnt doing a good job, but lets not make stuff up without having even seen the game.

The effort was high energy in the ist half based on the backs of the defense(again). Everyone there saw the wind leave the ponies when again the offense could not score when in close and gave up field position. No one wants the O and D at each other but how does the defense not just want to kick a teamates [deleted] or just give up since O continues to not hold up their end of the bargain. If the coaches O game plan does not work, then the players should start to scratch play in the dirt and make them work(mutiny). Good players play on emotion but they must have something to build on.....Go Ponies

With ALL the negative attitudes the fans and supporters of the SMU football team..... You can not blame offense or defense or in that matter the QB for the losing games records. These young players and even the veterans need positive reenforcements from their fans. How do you think the players themselves feels? They are trying do what is asked of them but with all the pressures from the media and the fans.... it is very hard to have a positive attitude out there on the field. I know there are alot of talents on the team and I hope that none of the young players & veteran players don't quit now......." THE GOOD WILL COMES FOR THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT!" :)
