basically he is getting interviewed, and reveals he is assisting SMU in their coaching search.
But here is my question did SMU hire an agency for that?

he is insisting SMU
You know me, I'll insist SMU too.

I assume you meant "assisting" instead of "insisting". I suppose it's better to have Eric Dickerson, the search agency, and I think Craig James assisting to find the a good, quality coach who wants to be at SMU. Dickerson and James helping adds a more personal factor to the search because the search agency is just doing their job.

What it tells me is that we have started the begging process. ED would not have a clue about who to hire. He has been out of the picture for so long it is amusing that we have stooped to this level. CJ has bashed and shunned SMU on national TV and now we are asking him for help. We are desperate.

How is it desperate or groveling? They are two of the greatest SMU players the school has ever seen. I'm sure they are both very well connected with the football world. (Don't both of them commentate?) I love the fact that they are willing to participate in this coaching hire.

Where the hell have they been the last 18 years? We can't even get them to homecoming once a year? It is obsurd that Orsini would have to use them in any way. My guess is that he got their permission to use their names for whatever purpose. Orsini does not need that kind of help, if he does we hired the wrong AD?

For the most part, alot of people come on this board and are constantly putting down this program. Negative this, negative that and more negative....Now some question Orsini reaching out to 2 former players who are 2 of the best players in the football history of SMU and people are bitchimng about that ??? Because they may have said something nagative about the program over the years ? Who hasn't ??? I don't know what some of you will do if Orsini actually hires a great coach who does rebiuld the football program ? .....I personally appreciate him reaching out to Dickerson and James. I think it is smart business if he can get them more involved since they are both high profile former players.....Hopefully you can see there is not much positive said around here either. Yet Orsini says we can WIN here and is apparently trying hard to hire a new quality coach. He will be reaching out to us also as he has been and will keep trying to change all the negative attitudes that have become such a part of SMU football.

Dickerson has made appearances at SMU home games at least 3 times during the Phil Bennett era. James has to work on Saturdays as a commentator, so he's basically busy every single Saturday. Sure, James bags on SMU and it pisses me off, but if the guy can help us get a better hire by showing his support of the school and the new coach, I can forgive him for now (even if he is a tool).

I was just about to say that we've seen ED several times at games, and he has been pretty approachable. CJ is a jerk, but if he's willing to help, it certainly doesn't hurt SMU.

But what does this say about the coaching search if we have to go to these lenghts to attract a HC?

I heard a couple of weeks ago that James was assisting Orsini. They are using him because of all the contacts he has made over the course of his broadcasting career.

What the hell do you think it says about our coaching search??? It's obvious...it's not an easy job to fill (which again is obvious) and he's pulling out all the stops to try everything he can to find the best candidate for the job. He knows how important this hire is and wants to make sure he's done all that he can to get SMU a great coach.
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

Hey, I'd rather Orsini "beg" a wow coach to come to SMU than just accept another mediocre coach. If he's not out recruiting his arss off, I'm going to be really disappointed.
