TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherTCU is a surprisely high number 9 in the BCS poll. Ohio State and Michigan are ahead of them but must play each other. Thus, if the Frogs win out then they should move up at least one more place in the BCS stanfdings. If that happens, some BCS bowl will virtually have to take them. Then TCU will learn that they have been lucky to be rated in the BCS at all.

Re: TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherNo; they have to finish in the top 6 to be guaranteed a spot in the BCS bowls. Wins over Louisville and USM will help, but playing us will not help their ranking. TCU needs every one loss team to lose a 2nd game to get in.
Re: TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherDue to the congressional hearings on the BCS this year, I think that any finish in the top 10 will have to be taken seriously by the BCS coalition. TCU has picked a good year to go undefeated, even if circumstances have made its strength of schedule very ordinary.

Re: TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherIt’s not up to the BCS coalition; it's up to the individual Bowl games -- which act independently, often to the detriment of one another (see Orange Bowl committee actions last year here). The bowls can take anyone in the Final BCS Top 12, with bowls that lose the teams playing in the Sugar Bowl selecting first. There are loose partnerships in place, and only the Pac 10-Big Ten contracts are binding (with the loophole for BCS Championship Game participation). Here are the loose partnership agreements for this year… Sugar = BCS #1 v. BCS #2 Rose = Pac 10 v. Big Ten Orange = ACC v. Big East Fiesta = Big XII The SEC only has an agreement with the Sugar (no secondary agreement) Living out here I can guarantee you this, the Rose Bowl is hell bent on Pac 10 v. Big Ten. If they lose USC and Wazzu doesn’t finish in the Top 12, they will select the school the Orange Bowl wants the most. If Oklahoma wins out, that leaves the Fiesta with the first pick… they aren’t going to take a non-BCS school that can’t fill half the stadium when they have the pick of the litter. In fact there is a lot of speculation out here that the Fiesta and Rose will collude to screw the Orange for its actions last year. If Oklahoma and USC play in the Sugar and Wazzu fails to make the final 12, the conspiracy theory has the Fiesta selecting either Miami or FSU first overall, with the Rose selecting the other second – leaving the Orange without a Florida school. If the Cotton Bowl were in the BCS, TCU would have a shot at inclusion, but it’s not, and they don’t.
Re: TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherThe Fiesta Bowl has long been considered a maverick when it comes to picking teams (see their selection of Louisville in the early 90's). On top of that, one of the members of the Fiesta Bowl's board of directors has a daughter that attends TCU. On top of that, the Fiesta Bowl would have a potential TCU/Big 12 matchup if either OSU or UT win out. Combine that with the legal advantage given to the BCS, and a Fiesta Bowl invite would be very likely if TCU wins out.
Re: TCU is 9th in BCS, due to go higherWishful thinking... it is refreshing to have some positive vibes on the board Frog, but you've got no chance of being an at-large without automatic qualification. Look at your post... I'm not sure there was a legitimate point in there… You're saying the Fiesta Bowl is going to take UT and TCU with the first and fourth overall BCS selections? If you’re saying Oklahoma plays in the Sugar, that is exactly what you’re saying… As for your Fiesta Bowl board of director buddy, he will tell you the Fiesta Bowl will select the schools that will sell the most tickets... You sight a Fiesta Bowl selection that was made before the game was part of the Alliance, let alone the BCS. 1991 has no relevance today friend. Last you finish it off with “a legal advantage???†The non-BCS conferences don’t have a leg to stand on in a lawsuit; if they did, every lawyer and politician would be jumping through hoops to get the case in court. Instead, they denounce the BCS without taking action, because they know action would immediately lead to losing. The BCS bowls know this, and aren’t going to sacrifice their payday to appease some AP hack that writes about the way “it should work.†Great season, but you’ve got a better chance of playing in the Fort Worth Bowl than a BCS game. Enjoy the Liberty.
