Re: RumorsLooks like the SJSU AD may have been right. The only thing he didn't predict was Houston to the MWC.
Re: RumorsI suspected there was some other player in the MWC mix for TCU to even consider a move. A solo invite would not give them a travel partner. On the other hand would the MWC increase to 10? If they did, it would by necessity create divisions. My guess is that the divisions would be Northern and Southern. Northern: Wyoming, Utah, BYU, CSU, AFA (gang of five stay together). Southern: UH, TCU, UNM, UNLV, SDS. (meaning TCU/UH go to travel hell) If they go to 12, adding Boise/Fresno (north) Hawaii/Nevada (south). However, if they go to 12 the gang of 5 would lose control which in my view dictates a strong resistance against increasing beyond 10. Otherwise, you could have Airport Al and the his pals pulling another stunt down the road when the other 7 gang up and try and divide AFA, CSU and BYU. This gets real interesting.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: RumorsYou said UCF to STAY in CUSA...they were never in it. Did you mean USF? Or did you mean, UCF to join CUSA.
Re: RumorsOn killerfrogs.com, they are tossing out that it is a done deal. The guy making the proclomation says that Boise State is the other team going, which makes little sense to me.
I will add this. From a PR standpoint, does it make sense that the first public comment about TCU leaving is the additional travel expense? Keep in mind that the only real point Gil Lebreton made in his pro-TCU-MWC column was that increased travel expense was not a big deal. Personally, I think it was leaked by someone inside TCU who doesn't want TCU to leave. Does that mean it doesn't happen? Of course not, but it is an odd beginning, particularly when you compare it to the leaks about SMU and Rice and Tulsa moving, which were unambiguously positive. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: RumorsThe best team is Boise State, they are better than TCU and are more convenient.
TCU doesn't make this move without a 12-team conference with a champ game. If TCU goes with UH, look for BSU and another. UNLV will be pushing hard for Nevada (also a convenient partner), but FSU is lobbying hard. They may not get in due to their renegade status. Hawaii would be nice, if they didn't move EASTERN, but with TCU/UHouston, I would think HAWAII is not as much on the radar due to travel (imagine playing back to back at HOU then at HAWAII).
Re: Rumorsyou can bet that if that purple goo makes the move, our rivalry will be even more intense!!!!!
good riddance! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: RumorsWhat is the freaking obsession with the overrated commuter school that is UofH? This year they have 5 wins, but since 1990, they have averaged 3.46 wins a year (including this year). For those keeping track at home, that is less than a whopping half a game more than SMU. I guess losing the Liberty Bowl in 1996 is real important.

Re: RumorsSorry for the confusion, UCF to join C-USA. They had been rumored to go from the MAC to the BE as a football only. Evidently that fell through but nothing is certain util the contracts are signed.
Re: RumorsThe more I've thought about it, the more likely UH is to stay. To change conferences for a public school such as UH would require appropriations and oversight. Since the TCU numbers appear at best shakey and at worst cooked, UH could not go before the Texas Legislature with a proposal which dumps on two other Texas schools and which appears lateral at best without some tangible proof that this is a sound economic move. They are already in the budget bulls eye as I understand it, and this type of expenditure would have to be thoroughly reviewed I suspect. TCU only has to convince its purple sunglass wearing trustees that this is something they NEED to do for the success of their athletic program.

Re: RumorsMake no mistake, John O'Quinn will personally pay the exit and entrance fees. Travel expenses may be another matter.
