integrity over greed...
Of course - aligning yourself with the Goats pretty much tells you where they stand anyway.
I know many of you do not care what the Heck TCU does - but - those of you who do care, and would like to see a strong rivalry develop . . . many in CUSA feel that those in charge at TCU have been lying to the conference . . .
If only for the reason of not having to waste a non-conf. game with the Toads . . .

if they make this move & we continue to play them (of course we will)...u can bet the RIVALRY just got more intense with the move vs. staying in c-usa.
enough said.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Why do we have to play them? We can find other much more attractive schools to play.

TCU is letting their newfound ego in football cloud their judgement on what is best for their overall athletic department. By moving to MWC:
1) They are still not in a BCS conference;
2) Higher travel costs. Their model showing a $200k increase in travel probably factors in future tv, bowl appearances, etc., none of which is certain;
3) What happens when they are not good anymore in football? What if the NCAA pays them a visit?
4) Unless you are in the PAC 10, the pacific time zone is a bad deal (we know, don't we?).

They usually bring a bunch of fans over from
Fort Worth for reason #1.
May the forth be with us.

I'm with you Nacho. Why not save some face and find someone else to play? It's nice to have a cross-town rival, but there are other schools to play. How many SMU fans has the football rivalry drawn in the past 10-15 years? I'm really not looking forward to this year's game.
Why should SMU continue to help TCU with travel expenses and their win/loss record?
In few years, what happens if the Pac 10 takes 2 MWC schools after TCU already commits?

See, if they were still in CUSA then we would play them at ALL sports and they wouldn't have such a smug attitude towards us. They need to be in our conference for a while so we can show them that their are other fields and courts that the Mustangs rule!

yea we can replace it with UNT and get the same thing.
They didn't build the football program by being stupid, have their head in the sand or sit and take whatever is thrown their way. So for what ever the actual reasons are for them to go to the MWC, despite all the obvious pitfalls to such a move, it has to be out of necessity for them to want to continue to climb in the football ranks.
Now that's how they see it I guess, and I'm sure that SMU knew that they would make this move based on what has happened in CUSA. Neither side could be that gullable or sneeky

Bottom line is, with or without TCU, CUSA is still the best scenario we could have ever hoped for. The damage inflicted on this program by years in the WAC cannot be overstated (second, of course to historical lack of commitment and perennial crappy football). I'm so glad we don't have to see SJSU, Nevada, Fresno, Hawaii, etc. on our schedule, I don't know what to do.
What's funny to me is, the Frogs cite our low attendance #'s as part of the reason they don't want anything to do with us, ignoring the fact that our numbers blow partly because we're playing teams from OUT WEST. Which is exactly where they're talking about going. (?)
Frogs are understandably obsessed with how good everybody's team is right NOW, because they're obviously undefeated, and need to capitalize. Only when pressed on their weak schedule do they venture into the past, with statements like, "Arizona was #5 when we scheduled them, 5 years ago." 5 years ago also shows TCU to be 1-11, or some crap.
A move to the MWC would be a major, major snub, and we deserve it. It hurts. 89 years of history means nothing to them. 38-38-7 means nothing to them. Tradition and roots apparently mean nothing to them, in fact, they want to forget them. If we ever needed any more incentive to get on the winning track, this is it.

Christ, if I was TCU I'd want to forget the past too. Come on, wouldn't you?
That being said, I really don't get a move to the MWC as being worth their while. $200K more in travel expenses. Shyeah, right. At least. No east coast coverage. Weird recruiting footprint, and look what BSU just did to the MWC's star program... And they'll be playing ice hockey in Hades before the MWC gets a BCS bid; tehy're not that strong a league, but more importantly, even with DFW and Houston, they don't bring any good TV numbers to the party- no TV executive would want them, and I should know...
TCU has done a superb job, and good for them. I just don't see them jeapardizing all that they have worked for on such a risky gamble unless they know something that we don't. Everything is worth investigating and reasonable risks should be taken. I just don't see the upside for TCU. Could a Horned Toad please explain?
Support the Commitment! We're all SMU Mustangs fans- we should all be committed!

when my High School girl friend left me I pined. I got over it. to TCU good bye. Once the SWC broke apart it's over and TCU was one of the last remembrances of that fun conference where every single SWC member was a rivalry, not just TCU. Now with the C-USA west it will be the closest we'll ever get to the old SWC. This is a good thing for us even without TCU. TCU is a nice to have but not a must have. L-tech can fill in and would very much want to get into C-USA west for the exact same reasons as SMU. Where I work a friend says to me, "place your fist in a bucket of water and pull it out, as long as it takes to fill the hold, that's how long you'll be missed" TCU is also going to marry up with a group of schools that left them high and dry several years ago. do you remarry the women you divorced? why bother. Keep your fist in the bucket TCU, otherwise hurry up and leave.
