Today We Shall Discuss Coach FRAN!!!!!!!!

Postby Stallion » Wed Dec 19, 2007 2:01 am

another Coach we could have had 4 weeks ago. OK I was the first one to propose that Coker was a smokescreen to make a controversial Coach more palatable. (it works for me). I give you Coach Fran

Well, after hearing about Coker interveiwing here, Fran is sounding alot better..... Yet I still think Orsini is after an NFL coach. Is there any truth to the rumors of interest in our job by Norm Chow if he does not get the UCLA job ?? Now Chow is an NFL OC that I think might be worth taking a chance on and I've been only for getting an experienced proven Head Coach. Yet Norm Chow is such a great offensive coach, he might be worth the risk if he is interested in coming here. I can tell you this much, our offense would be outstanding and he knows talent and would be able to recruit very well.

I'm glad to see that we are starting to get some press now about coaches like Coach Fran being "interested" in our job. Though not one of my Top Choices, obviously Coach Fran would be a huge step up for us and he might just do a great job rebuilding here if he could get fired up again about coaching like he was at TCU/ New Mexico.....Coach Fran says he likes Texas and says he and his wife want to retire here. So he might just stay here also if he came which is an important issue in rebuilding our program.

Look folks. There are only 3 jobs left. We were the 1st to fire and will be the last to hire. I'm sorry but I don't buy the fact that we have some huge hire "in the bag" and are waiting around to announce this. Fact is that the game isn't played like that. Do the big boys (ie Michigan, Arkansas, etc.) do that? Of course not. So let's face the fact that nobody wants this job.

Coach Fran would be a great hire given the circumstances and our committment to failure over the last 20 years.

Breaking News!!! - Kate actually broke an original story. Maybe things are looking up.

Stallion is right, Fran is looking pretty good right about now.

don't do it...

full disclosure-- I bleed purple. I read ponyfans.com regularly, but haven't posted before.

But this is too much to pass silently by.

Hiring Coach Fraud, as he's properly known, is setting yourselves up for disaster. Larry Coker would be a better hire. Norm Chow would be a much better hire.

Yeah. Most of these guys don't seem to believe that unfortunately. There is a very short list of guys I would actually choose Fran over in the search. Coker and Chow are not two of them.

The Frogs will never get over losing the coach who saved their program.

Fran is the man, at least until tomorrow when we get a new interested party. Funny how these names are now leaking out.

No doubt, there's enough sour grapes there to keep FW in vinegar for the rest of time.

As I posted a week or so ago. Hire Fran, pay him nothing, which means he is still getting the $1.7 from A$M, take some the money saved and put it towards the assistants, and increase the recruiting and marketing budget.

Folks, this is a no-brainer.

yeah TCU fans saying Fran is a mistake-why because he broke their hearts. Big Deal. I don't live under such illusions of fidelity in College Coaches. What complaint could a TCU fan possibly have with Coach Fran except that he left.

The ideal time to hire Fran was right after the season when he had close contacts with his recruits and A&M, even with its new coach, was unorganized. By now, A&M has regrouped and solidified its commitments.
