This is the forum for talk about SMU Football

Exactly, Fran is 2-0 against UT in the past two years.

His overall record against OU, UT, Tech was bad. But beating OU and UT is tough and Tech has always had A&M's number. I don't think SMU fans would be upset with the occasional win over a Top 15 team.

Today is JUCO signing date-so its a tad late for the Father-Son strategy-most of his JUCO recruits should be signing today. His son still looks like a bright young assistant prospect though.

Yeah that was really an unfair shot at Fran to suggest he had anything to do with Alabama's probation.

Everyone needs to take a break from the board; go read "The Unbearable lightness of Being" and then report your findings back here.

Coach Fran is interested? He is a proven coach who can probably perform very well in C-USA.

Those Ft. Worth sour grapes might make some fine wine here.

One of the most important points that most are missing is that Fran would hire the best staff with the best Texas connections for recruiting. Its a huge point often overlooked.

So you're Aggie buddies weren't laughing at the SMU program BEFORE the talk of hiring Fran? SMU's program has been a punchline for a long time, so I find it surprising that they are just now laughing at us.

The reality is that probably any candidate mentioned in all seriousness on this board the last few weeks would probably be a step in the right direction for SMU.

Because he doesn't care anything about his programs or his athletes. He only cares about himself and big $$$. If you don't believe TCU, just ask the folks at Alabama or even College Station.

I would much prefer Coker or Barnett to Fran. Hands down.

I don't give a darn what they care about...As long as they bring in legit recruits and win!!!

Go into the athletic department office, checkbook in hand of course, ask for a tuna on rye with potato salad. They'll know what you're talking about. Write the check for $1911, hand it to them. Then you're set, they'll wait until the coast is clear and enter your name on the ultra, top secret legal pad where all the Super Deluxe Pony Fans names are.

OR-See-Nee wrote:The biggest upside with Fran is the possibility of his son, Brad, coming here--a JUCO head coach (and defensive coordinator) who went undefeated last season and won the 2006 JUCO national championship. Went 7-2 this season in regular play, with three defensive shutouts.

I'm not a big Fran fan, but this two-for-one special would be appealing.

dude, it ain't the wins and losses--- it's the NCAA probation.

Of all people, SMU and TCU fans ought to be keenly aware of that.

They were on probation before he got there...He partially knew what he was getting into...
