We could add TEMPLE to the EAST and shift SMiss to the WEST.
That brings in another BBALL school into the conference and shifts a better team out west (otherwise, we are unbalanced in power to start off -- EAST > west).
FB Schedules would be:
5 Division games, plus 2 rotation outside division and one permanent rivalry (Memphis would insist on S Miss game).
I have heard LaTech instead of TCU if they leave. LT has been a disappointment of late to me, but at least they have a top5 W-BBall program.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Well, if it happens, theres a good chance it will be both TCU and Houston. We can live without the Frogs, but losing a second school would be tough. La Tech would be a no brainer to bring in, but who else? I like the idea of shifting S. Miss or Memphis over to the West, but doubt either would go along with it. I suppose at that point the options are Utep or UNT. But UNT has been on a concerted hate on SMU mission all over the internet, so screw them. Its pretty hard to celebrate all this when we still don't know how this will really end up. Rah, rah, pep rally tomorrow. I think in the end that we got sucker punched again by TCU and there really won't be anymore stability in CUSA than the WAC. Better geography yes, stability, don't see it.

Please GRGB, so we haven't diappointed you of late
My idea why CUSA is such a good idea is the teams that were in. As more and more talk about leaving and more teams from the WAC come in, it might make travel better, but the level of play is going down. Then you suggest to add TEMPLE, why not Boise St, the distance isn't that much farther is it

Coach Rompola can't be too thrilled with that idea. Since SMU and LaTech have been in the same conference, it seems like everyone else is playing for the #2 spot.

Yes, SMU has disappointed me. My disappointment in LaTech (who can accept partial qualifiers and JUCOs) is mutually exclusive to my disappointment I feel for SMU.

If TCU leaves, I would expect La Tech to be their replacement in CUSA-west. If Houston goes with them, I would look for UNT to replace Houston. While the left over western "privates" might prefer to find addt'l privates, they simply aren't available and inviting La Tech and UNT keeps the west "compact". Also, La Tech and UNT are similar to many of the eastern schools and I assume they would be favored by that group.
Western travel partners would become Rice/Tulane, SMU/UNT & Tulsa/La Tech

I would prefer UTEP to UNT for several reasons. First, we did have 5 years together. Second, they travel well. Third, they have some basketball history which might be attractive to CUSA. If not them, then Temple to add an eastern school to the eastern division. USM is not too far away to move west. Temple has a great basketball program and would give the conference exposure in a major TV market (Philly).
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
