Welcome to C-USA. I am truly excited about SMU coming to our conference. I have been pounding EagleTalk (our message board) for months about wanting you guys to join.
SMU is a class school. I think SMU's overall class, exceptional athletic facilities and and great tradition will be a wonderful asset to C-USA.
Even though I have a masters from SMU, I am a huge Southern Miss fan (undergrad)...GO EAGLES! But, am very supportive of SMU and really looking forward to these two schools playing each other in all sports.
I truly believe C-USA and this combo of schools can do for SMU football what it has done for TCU football.
I mean really, TCU was a doormat before Franchione came along and then their joining C-USA really ended up helping their program grow and stay strong too.
I know, I know you guys hate TCU...I understand the competitive spirit between the 2 schools.
But, I think TCU is scared of what could become of the SMU football program in this conference. SMU punished them for years in the old Southwest Conf. and they're afraid you'll do it again in this new line-up. I think SMU is going to get better and better and C-USA will be nothing but good for the program. The WAC was a terrible situation!
Also, some of you seem to think TCU is gone to the MWC...I don't buy it. The MWC gets WAY more from TCU than TCU gets from them. What does TCU get other than significantly increased travel expenses, less TV coverage, a smaller bowl package and competition with schools that they have absolutely nothing in common with from a geographical standpoint! I think TCU is here to stay.
Anyway...welcome aboard! Damn glad to have you! :thumbupcool:

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

'92 - everything you said about CUSA being good for SMU is true. I can't wait for SMU to begin building rivalries within CUSA.
SMU's overall athletic program is excellent. But, football, men's basketball and to a limited extent women's basketball are what most sports fans evaluate when establishing perceptions about a D-1A collegiate athletic program in the south/southwest.
In the future, SMU will be successful in football again and will punish TCU again.
Thanks for the good wishes.

How do you like this tongue twister? SMU plays USM in C-USA. I taught at USM and like the golden eagles except when they play the mustangs. 2005 can't get here fast enough.
