One day, we will look around a full stadium at the end of
a winning season, and it will all be worth it.

Peruna11....great post!
Your post reminded me of something I told my best friend that
I have attended all the games with for many years......

I told him...... "one day it's gonna happen"
one day we are gonna win 7-8 games....and when that final gun
goes off and it's a done deal.....it's gonna be kind of emotional
when we look up at the scoreboard and think about the journey
we've been on...all the heartbreaks.....the loses/the few wins......
all the players we've watched...Bordano, Flanigan, Bobby Chase, ect
...all the great SMU fans that we have attended games with...and
some have already passed on.....all the hopes/dreams...it would
all come flashing by us...and frankly I won't give a damn if someone
thinks I'm a "wuss" when a tear rolls down my cheek.

No matter what BigDaddy & the doom & gloomers say.....

IT'S GONNA HAPPEN!.....and it will be bittersweet!

I read the first page.

The original post hit home because SMU fans and Administration have not played the game as outlined by NCAA rules.

The MODEL is messed up. And Orsini has one HELL of a job on his hands.

After Christmas, Go to Goodwill and shop for presents. Oh, those presents have to be brand new and in the original box and shrink wrapped. And with those gifts in hand, go make your Alumni happy.

That is our coaches job.

It AIN'T EASY.

Thank you for some realism.

I know you still love SMU.

Ever since Phil was fired I've been reading this board to get a handle on the coaching thing and it just brought me back to why it was so easy to leave. The country club mentality, the lack of diversity, the getting drunk on the Boulevard and getting to the game at halftime crowd. That's SMU and everyone knows it.

I wish you all good luck and sorry to offend anyone, this obviously is not a good place to have a civil discussion.

As far as my comments to your discussion, I will accept your "rear view mirror" explanation and offer my apology for misconstruing the meaning.

I felt you were saying you did not like your SMU experience at the time you left and you felt SMU owed you something to get you back. I do agree that there are not a lot of attractive things going on right now, however, I just do not agree with abandoning one's school just because we are not winning Championships and getting all kinds of positive national publicity. I adore my school and will always be a fan and support them in any manner in which I am able. Some of us on this board disagree with the manner in which we should support the school, but far and away the majority of posters are strong fans and loyal supporters in their own way.

I hope you will continue to support your school, cheer for your team and do anything you can to help us return to respectability, and hopefully pominence. Good luck to you.

It's amazing how some of you people rip former players from the 90's and the last few years. Saying things like "you stunk, your the reason we sucked, blah, blah, blah." What's wrong with you people? These are fellow alums, fellow Mustangs, guys that left everything on the field for there team, for you! I thought we are a family. You make them sound like outsiders because they played football. Most of you who post these comments have never even played organized sports and prove it when you say things like that. (Flag football for the frat doesn't, count by the way as organized sports). When I meet a fellow alum on the street or in business I feel we have bond and try to build on that relantionship. Why would you want push alumni away from this school. We need all the fans we can get.

How about being happy when somone signs up for Ponyfans and deciedes to post a thought? Isn't the idea to build this board up. Or should we have the same 30 guys posting everyday like the last few years. Pony Pride is close friend of mine and he is thrilled at the numbers and new activity on this board. Disagreeing and debating is a healthy part of this board, but personal attacks on are own alums beacuse they're new to the board or they played football are truely sad.

CO: I just noticed your comment about spending time on LBJ. Today, I only spent an hour on LBJ, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Oh would I love a week or so in Idaho (when its warmer).

I also agree with several of the posts in this and other topics that we should be more civil and respectful on this board. We don't need to blast each other or engage in ad hominem attacks.

If this epic search ever comes to an end (what started first, SMU coaching search or the Bush administration?), we will see renewed excitement and passion if SMU can win on the field.
