Let's be honestwill any of you REALLY care who the coach is? you're here posting on the mustang msg board, so you've shown your passion for the team/school. as long as the coach is winning, or improving (and how hard will that be (TWSS)) does it really matter who S.O. hires? if the guy isn't getting it done, orsini won't put up with it and will make another change.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
As long as Orsini hires someone that I think can be successful at SMU I will be happy so long as that coach starts an upward trend in recruiting, wins games, and avoids putting himself or the team or university in a compromising position. If Orisini hires someone that I do not think can be successful at SMU I will be supportive of the coach until the first sign of trouble at which point I may voice my displeasure. Hiring someone with a track record buys that coach and SMU more time in the process of righting the ship. Many people lost faith in Bennett after his first game which was a disaster against Navy. Many more lost faith after the disastrous 2003 season. I think our recruiting dried up in 2004 thanks to the 2003 season. We need someone who has been through a similar process before so that he can keep his sail up while traversing rough waters. If we are extremely lucky we might even be able to land someone that will enable SMU to win all the close games next year and take us to the promised land in year one.
I have been wondering in recent days if this is what SO is waiting on. It would make sense, given the long wait. Just not sure it makes sense based on what SO has said he wanted in the new coach.
I really don't think it is going to happen, I just wanted to stir the pot. However something happened at my place of employment yesterday that did raise my eyebrows. I'm sorry I can't go into details and will probably get yelled at on this board but a conversation occured yesterday that really peaked my curosity.
Again, I truly don't think this is what is going to happen but now I wouldn't be 100% surprised.....only 95%.
Just so everyone knows about what Stallion thinks about Randy Allen (if you forgot):
"This would easily be the worst hire ever made by a Division 1A program-other than that its a swell idea. Whose [deleted] are we kissing to even consider this stupid idea. Come on who is it that is so out of touch with reality that this seems like a GREAT idea."
That is Stallion's form letter.
at this point, I worry about anything, even something as silly as Randy Allen being our coach. but besides that, what would be most absurd is waiting on and not announcing a coach so as to not disrupt his 4A Division II playoff run and the big game against Everman. We should just shoot ourselves in the head right now if all this secrecy and recruiting delay is so as not to upset the lads and Sportclub boosters over at HPHS.
Re: Let's be honest
If SMU screws up this hire the way it's screwed up everything re: sports for the last 25 years, I don't know that I will be able to walk away forever, but I would sure want to. I can tell you that I was pretty much numb without emotion after the Arky St. loss for the rest of the season, and personally, I really need something to cause me to become excited about SMU again. It's getting harder and harder to even care. And I've been a die-hard since the early 90s. Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
SO's not that big of an idiot. I hope.
How in the name of Notre Dame, Baylor,TCU can you you post this rubbish. SMU is not going for anything like that. SMU does not have 12 - whatever $ to hire anyone. The $ is there to hire someone that is still coaching.
