Anyone interested? Former coach of Syracuse and now LBs coach of Cowboys.

I'm in. Phenomenol record at a basketball school (of course PhatDaddy says records aren't important). Good recruiter. Got a raw deal at Syracuse, won for 12 or so years, has a couple of average years and gets canned (the "Southern Miss Syndrome). Three years of NFL experience, supposedly a good, likable guy. Hire him, a great cast of assistants, stop with the self-imposed academic restrictions and we're good to go.

I'm guessing he's wanting to make his way up through the pro ranks though or he'd have been hired already.

We could have used one this past year.

The guy was the head coach at Syracuse for how many years? Just bacause he's a LB coach now doesn't erase his past record as a head coach.

I agree, it seems silly to dismiss a guy with a good resume, because he's currently the LB coach for an NFL team, but then clamor for a fella who's been out of the game for 9 years (Not to say that the same people are calling for both).

It seems like he would be a good enough hire. My only question would be about recruiting. Does he have any ties to the region other than his current position with the Cowboys. Does anyone know if he has been a successful recruiter in Texas? Stallion?

As I said, don't know whether he would successfully recruit in Texas for SMU. However, his record is not bad. What I like is that he although he inherited a very good situation, he maintained it and then was able to peak again after some light dips. I realize his last few teams weren't as good, but I would definitely take the wins and losses. Take into account that the Big East no longer has Virginia Tech and Miami and see what Greg Robinson has been unable to accomplish.
