Stallion, I know perception and reality are two different things. But weren't Bennett's ties to Texas recruiting a big reason he was hired? My gosh, both his brothers were Texas high school head coaches.
I guess it takes more than that to recruit. Especially if you're recruiting for SMU.
This is one discussion that has changed my mind about being for Fran. I do have to put emotion aside since my daughter is an Aggie and I know how A&M felt about firing him (and I agreed with their reasons for it). If Fran can step down to SMU, we would be lucky to get him.
well if you listen to the SID yes-if you had been listening to me before he was hired I dealt with that over and over that Phil Bennett's strengths were JUCO players, evaluation of overlooked players(several of were from DFW) and East Texas But he was not thought of as a great recruiter as far as convincing top high school talent.

If we hire Fran your daughter can take solace in the aggies paying for Fran's salary for the first few years he is here. Well, maybe that would not be a help to her. Seems Tom Hicks was able to get over his paying A Rod to play for the Yankees for several years, maybe your daughter could use the same approach.

A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON DEPARTED
Just another case of SMU grads taking money from Aggies, like candy from a baby. It's too easy.
