Orsini has already created a disaster for SMU for years to come. Mark my words. I have not been wrong yet.

It’s just so depressing..........Especially, when it doesn't have to be like this.....For Example:
1. Terry Bowden
2. Mike Shula
3. Fran
4. Coker

Now how many of those guys received offers directly or indirectly from SMU? Is Mike Shula able to talk? How do we know he's not really the candidate? There's a lot we don't know. Perhaps June Jones has had a secret crush on SMU since he was a kid? Or perhaps this is all a big smokescreen to feed the media "something", or to pressure another candidate or to help Jones with Hawaii negotiations. Who knows? Only Steve-O.

I've yet to see anyone state why Jones would be so good for SMU. He built Hawaii, yes, but using recruiting methods that seem unavailable at SMU.
Basically, he has no history of successful recruiting in an SMUesque situation. Thus, he is unproven, and a gamble.

I'm amazed that you guys don't want a coach who's team went undefeated, and who are playing in the Sugar Bowl, to come to SMU. This would be a WOW hire.

I'm with you. It's baffling to think we shouldn't be going after Coach Jones. Whether or not we can land him is a different matter altogether, but to want him at SMU is a no-brainer.

Some of you guys are just insane. Just because there is reported interest doesn't mean that it is there. And just because there is interest doesn't mean that he is the guy Orsini is waiting on.
Just chill. If we haven't hired a coach yet, it is because we have someone in mind who has a serious interest in the position. And, once again, if we have to fall back to the backups, sure there will be some egg on our face. But 1) Two coaches in the national spotlight have had to call press conferences saying they are not interested in SMU, which brings great publicity to the program, 2) the national media reported that we were in the running for Paul Johnson against a BCS school, which brings positive publicity and 3) our fallback options are Fran and Coker, either of whom are better than any coach we have had here in 20 years.
So, chill.

As I've said elsewhere, this whole thing is a misunderstanding. SMU is not wanting to hire June the coach; rather, they are waiting until June to hire a coach.
