First game I remember was 76? against Houston in the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair. We lost, but all of my Dad's UT indoctrination quickly evaporated on my seeing the Ponies play and the campus - oldest sister had just started on the Hilltop. It was a UMYF trip from East Texas and it made a lifelong impact on me even in a losing effort.
BTW - That may have been our first game against Houston as a new member of the SWC.
Sadly for Dad, all three kids went to Mom's school (SMU).

My first SMU game was in the Cotton Bowl against Texas A&M. I want to say it was 94 or 93 (I was only 10 or 11 at the time). I want to say the Aggies were ranked 5th in the nation at the time. SMU took the ball right down the field and scored on their opening position to go up 7-0. Things didn't go so well after that. I want to say the final score was 38-10 A&M.

I think you mean 92. I was there too. Pretty cool that was your first game. We tied the game at 7 when some nobody, my oldest brother, scored his only collegiate touchdown (he was a possession receiver in Rossley's Run n shoot if such thing exists). I was sitting with my dad, who was brought to tears by the play.
Great job hanging in there as Pony fan though this rought stretch.
Better things to come.
