Private university that is same size as SMU including grad schools. In a major city with top pro football, basketball and hockey teams as well as other universities. That is where the similarities end. Higher rated academically,in a BCS conference and has an average football attendance of around 38,000. What is the solution or is it hopeless?

Sounds to me like BC is just better than SMU any way you slice it.

Perhaps Turner can buy this guy--

Boston College hired Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski, a former BC assistant, to be its head coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

"He has respect for the outstanding tradition of BC football. He understands the mission of Boston College and the importance of academics to our program," athletic director Gene DeFilippo said in a statement. "He brings great personal integrity to the position and will continue to recruit scholar-athletes who will represent our institution with class. He has proven that he is an outstanding football coach, and his energy, enthusiasm and passion are contagious."

Both Boston College and TCU should give SMU hope.
If they can do it, so can we!

If you want to follow college football in New England, you have UConn and Boston College, 1-AA's and you have the Ivys that's pretty much it. They really do not compete with each other either unlike in Texas where we compete with UT, A&M, OU, TT, OSU, Baylor, TCU and CUSA schools not to mention pro sports. Its a different situation, but its certainly a cause for hope. Because if BC can play competitively in the ACC, we ought to be able to be competitive in CUSA.

BC certainly doesn't limit their recruiting to NE:

I am just curious how anyone would say TCU gives us hope. I sure as hell dont hope to work at McDonalds. TCU is as B-team as they come. Tried and True: Purple is [Deleted] gay and little horned frogs mow my lawn.

firephil are you going to be a [deleted] for the rest of your life? you can't see any similarities between TCU and SMU as opposed to say the other 117 NCAA schools. Anything? Nothing?

Thank you for using punctuation, Stallion!!!! But stop taking life so seriously. Sometimes, when grown ups talk to each other, they aren't always being serious. This is sometimes called a joke. You might learn about this 4-star word in 4th or 5th grade, okay?

I was just glad you were able to out perform your opening act at the b-ball game during home coming. That drunken rendition of Journey's Dont Stop Believing must have been a tough act to follow.

Nailed it.

Many thanks. Incidentally, we would still like to obtain the identity of this "Don't Stop Believin'" kid, if anybody with knowledge wants to PM me with info.

It's a sleeper, underrated 2-star word, not a 4-star word. If it was a 4-star word, it wouldn't be seen at SMU.

you guys are missing the point w/BC. They are the only jesuit school, other than Notre Dame, in D1 football. They recruit hard-nosed Catholic kids that were raised in a jesuit environment.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
