The only non-BCS coach left with a bowl game to play. Could he be our next coach?

3 CUSA West schools in 3 years? Seems far fetched. but no more far fetched than June Jones ending up here.

What? There are quite a few non-BCS coaches who have yet to play their bowl games.

Air Force - Troy Calhoun
Fresno State - Pat Hill
Hawaii - June Jones
Tulsa - Todd Graham
Bowling Green - Gregg Brandon
Ball State - Brady Hoke

Bowling Green is going bowling? I don't know if that tells me there are way too many bowl games or how sad it is that we can't get to one. If ever finally do, I just hope we don't play Middle Tennessee State in Mobile, Alabama or somesuch.

Right, but other than Graham and Jones I don't think any of the others are candidates.

I didn't say they were, but that's not what you said. SMU also isn't limited to non-BCS coaches, though it would take a lot to lure a BCS coach to SMU.

Yeah, and SMU is undefeated so far in football for 2008, right?

Look at what Graham did to Rice. Would you really want a guy like that. I hope not.

If this were the case, then why (as I have said in other threads) is SMU the ONLY school that can't seem to get their new coach to agree to announcing the hire prior to the bowl game? The only exception that makes sense to me would be June Jones because Hawaii's bowl game is literally the most important game that school has ever played. Period.

Hell no. I should be shot for saying this, but I'd rather have Fran. Graham is Bobby Petrino Lite.

If he can turn SMU into a winner, YES!!! He left Rice for more money. I would do it and most others on this board would have left for more money. Whether it was 1 year into the job or 20. Capitalism applies to college football as well.

He and anyone we hire will probably do the same to us within a year or 2. It won't matter because they will have won big enough to draw the attention. Get over It.

That's right, Fran never left a program after a short stay. He was at Alabama for years, correct? :?

You're exactly right, and that's my point. Fran makes me puke, but Graham is even more nauseating.
