And now for something completely different...Interesting article exemplifying what it means to be a fan instead of just a spectator. But don't you think their mascot is stupid and wimpy. I mean the "Buckeye" come on?!!! What is that? A seed? A nut? A flower? A vegetable? I think they should get a big horse with a rider, that would be much more intimidating than what they've got now. And while we're at it, so should the Badgers, Jayhawks, Crimson Tide (what's with the cute elephant?), the Irish (a Leprochan?!!!), and the Aggies (what's with the wimpy, cute little collie anyway? It doesn't DO anything.)

Re: And now for something completely different...what about frogs? check out all these mascots.
running eagles? if I was an eagle I rather fly http://www.smargon.net/nicknames/
Re: And now for something completely different...How could I forget these unintimidating, embarassing mascots roaming the sidelines that their fans should be ashamed of and want to replace with BETTER mascots.
The goat on Navy's Sideline. (And the Tar Heel goat too) The Oregon Duck. The Stanford Tree. The Miami Ibis (they should have a REAL Hurricane) The Virginia Tech Hokie/Turkey thing The Terrapins of Maryland (Fear the Turtle --- my A**!)
Re: And now for something completely different...Diamond M.....speaking of something COMPLETELY different...would you mind at least attempting to have some sense this year during bball season, I like the "cheering" and all, but your incessant noise is really painful (btw, I KNOW I speak for the 457 people who sit around you....cheer, like a passionate fan, make NOISE, when needed, spark the team, etc., etc, but, please, the totally RANDOM ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ah ah ahhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahh ahhh ahhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh woooooooooooooo wooo wooooo must stop...thanks. :hmm:
Re: And now for something completely different...Seriously, it seems like if you are losing, everything is at fault. If we were winning, everyone would be going nuts about our little horse that packs a big punch, rah rah rah. I hate this "big horse" argument SO much. I liked the guy that posted on the ESPN bottom 10 list saying something like "we need a real thoroughbred mustang...". Oh really? A THOROUGHBRED mustang? Hmm, where do they sell those, let's go get one. IT'S A SYMBOL OF A FREAKING WILD HORSE PEOPLE!!! It's IMPOSSIBLE to ever have an actual mustang on the sidelines.
Some dumb girl got into an argument about this with me. I told her an "actual mustang" is a wild horse, so having a rider and such would be totally stupid and wouldn't solve anything. She actually said to me "well put it in a cage, like LSU does with their tiger, now that's cool!" Argh, I hate these people, but I blame it on new student education. AARO is all about where the cafeteria is, how to get free condoms from the health center, and where to party on monday nights. All these things were ACTUALLY discussed in my AARO group. Spirit or traditions? Oh yeah, the AARO leader forgot to even go over these so she taught us the "5-4-3-2 Give a cheer for SMU" cheer on the way to a meeting elsewhere on campus. Gee, I felt like I was all pumped about being a new SMU student/fan. Would it be that hard to add maybe an hour or two with some actual spirit/tradition/history lessons. Simply explaining when and why things first came about would help so much, I believe. It works for the band, we have by far the most spirited freshmen on campus, not because they were fans before or anything, but because we taught them why and how we do things. But hey, next time I am out in the wild wild west, I will try to bag a mustang and drag it back so we can ride it around and proudly claim ourselves as true mustangs! Then no matter how bad the football games, we can have true satisfaction and spirit in knowing we aren't being skimpy on the mascot front. From high on the hilltop, in Big D...
Re: And now for something completely different...HAHAHA now THAT'S HILARIOUS... Sorry Diamond M, I meant to say this... GOL DERN YOU!!! LAY OFF BAND ALUMS!!! YOU SHOULD CHEER HALF AS MUCH!!! My bad, DM. (Birddogs) WHERE'S MY KETCHUP?!?!?!
Re: And now for something completely different...Hold on, let me make you and DM feel at home..I've seen the "display"...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahhhhhahhhha ahhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh (randomly, with no rhyme or reason, probably during a timeout or public service message) aaahhhhhhhh wooooooooooo ooooooooooo kilooooooyyeeedddaddaddaddaddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa meeeeeeeeeee, just like at an SMU bball game when near DM, I need a buffren....
Re: And now for something completely different...Do Hixson and DandyDon ever have a thought that is not completely shared by the other, in the same voice? What are these two guys among the schizophrenic multiple personalities of MemphisMustang? I guess its just coincidence that Hix is member #1155 and DandyDon is #1156.

Re: And now for something completely different......and BubbaPony at 1152 is my cousin......nice theory....
Re: And now for something completely different...sure bro, whatever turns you on. I know losing is hard to take.
Re: And now for something completely different......give me another one of your "Hughes Triggs" press conference "conspiracy theories", speaking of getting turned on.....they are "priceless".... :hmm:
Re: And now for something completely different...like to dish it out, but can't take it huh?
Re: And now for something completely different...Nice little junior high tattle tail retort, HF...you are better with your "insider" stuff, it's good comedy.
Re: And now for something completely different...No one has to "justify" Peruna. If you question our mascot, you're not a mustang. Better to go to the Mountain View, North Lake or El Centro board.
Re: And now for something completely different...Oh good lord. I'm taking flack because I make too much noise at a baskbetball game.
Of course, maybe your problem with me could be minimized by the ticket master issuing me permanent floor seats so I wouldn't have to yell so loud for the players, refs, and coaches to hear me! :thumbupcool:
