Press Conference Monday

There's no secrecy to this "interview" like PJ's interview and trip to Dallas. JJ's was confirmed by Steinberg himself. With the lack of secrecy I'd say something is up. You don't allow this much information to go out unless you want it out and your not worried about it killing a deal. I'll bet this a credible source. We may have a coach boys and girls!!

It's not a "done deal" until Sunshine Pony comes back on to proclaim that Orsini got his man. Oh wait, that already happened...long ago as I recall.

The story was in the Hawaii paper, meaning it came from Jones/Steinberg, not SMU. In fact, I'm pretty sure the 2nd sentence of the article states clearly that Jones told the newspaper he was taking the trip. So, yeah it appears that Jones wants Hawaii to know that he's interviewing at smu, and he isnt worried about a leak to the media killing a potential deal with smu. It's a credible source, as you say. The source is Jones, himself. I just dont agree that this means we have a new coach sewn up. It could just as easily be Jones playing a bit of Hardball with Hawaii, he got their offered and now wants leverage for a better one.

Agreed XTC nothing is "sewn" up until the papers are signed. It just seems to me how this is playing out looks to be closer to being done than not.

Jones should be coming to the AFCA meeting (in California) so he will be coming to the mainland...getting to Dallas won't be difficult. Getting assistants next week will be easy as everyone that is anyone will be at AFCA... Timing is good for setting up a staff
