Leigh Steinberg holds Orsini's reputation in his hands

Postby George S. Patton » Sat Jan 05, 2008 2:12 pm

Just consider the idea that Steinberg, June Jones' agent, is marshalling these discussions and should he get what he wants from Orsini for his client, Orsini walks out of this looking pretty good. Of course, the results will speak for themselves.

If these discussions hit an 11th-hour snag and it falls apart, then Orsini's reputation continues to take a pounding.

Interesting how one man can determine the future for another man in a matter of hours.

More evidence that whatever else happens, the lawyers always make money.

Looks like the frogs are a little nervous about the possibility of JJ coming to the metroplex. Already beginning to trash him.

As for those discussions about the academic issues, if this is true, then it sounds about right to me.

You can bet preliminary feelers about this stuff went out during the week. Given Jones' comments from 2003, he knew what he was walking into, and he wouldn't have come here if the administration was ready to provide some hard line concessions.

I agree that Orsini has a lot on the line, but it seems pretty off base to say it is Steinberg who controls the situation. Surely it is JJ? He is the one who will make the decision. If JJ says no then what can Steinberg do to impact Orsini's reputation one way or another?

From Froggie Board:

"In talking to a couple of WAC officials, they don't hold
him in very high regard"

June Jones got his team to bowls 5 out of the last 6 years

2006: 11-3

2007: 12-1

I wonder who they do hold in "high regard"?

Probably because they were one of the 11 in 2006 and one of the 12 in 2007.

I hope that SO has Turner gagged sitting in his chair for these discussions. I also hope they discussed prior to JJ's arrival what has to happen for him to sign, and what will happen if he doesn't.

The Honolulu article appears to state that Jones is traveling TODAY and meeting TOMORROW mid-morning with SMU officials. Take a look...

The article was posted TODAY and says "mid-morning tomorrow".
