The June Jones Visit II

Kate Hairopoulos E-mail News tips
Since my earlier blog this afternoon, I've spoken with Leigh Steinberg, June Jones' agent.
There has indeed been some trouble in booking flights, and Jones is now due in early Sunday morning, according to Steinberg.
Steinberg, who will arrive in Dallas late tonight, said while Jones and SMU athletic director Steve Orsini have had direct discussions, they are looking forward to visiting "face-to-face with the SMU community."
Steinberg confirmed that Hawaii has presented a counteroffer to its initial offer, which wasn't received until Thursday night. Not surprisingly, he declined to disclose details.
Steinberg also mentioned the e-mails and calls both he and Jones have received from passionate Hawaii fans, calling for Jones to remain in Hawaii.
I asked Steinberg, who used to keep an office in Arlington because of his representation of several Dallas pro athletes, when he planned on departing Dallas.
"It depends," he said.

I knew my info on the flight availability was pretty spot on. Probably on one of the flights that I found earlier through LAX since they allow for early morning arrival in Dallas. The other option is if somehow they got a seat that opened up on one of the AA flights direct.
As for why he is flying commercial, you can buy a $4000 1st class ticket. A private jet will cost you about $3000 an hour and if you are flying to Hawaii to pick someone up you will need to have a second flight crew for the return flight back to Dallas. I would hate to see anyone spend $45K to bring anyone in when commercial in this case will be just fine.

I haven't seen this yet, sorry if it's been posted. Posted on the blog comments article. http://starbulletin.com/2008/01/05/sports/story01.html
One friend of Jones said he is "90 percent" convinced that he will take the offer to get away from frustrations at UH. Another person close to him said he'd place the odds at 50-to-1 that Jones would go to SMU rather than remain at Manoa.

so one of those people considered close to Jones isn't nearly as close as they think they are, huh?
