RB's in Jones offense?
What happens with the RB's? Mapps will be the best fit for this offense, so what happens with the other guys?

The same thing that happens to all the RB's in the spread. They either turn into receivers, LB's, DB's, or transfer. We need only two maybe, and DMart is to big and slow footed. So we deal with Mapps and JWill, because JWill will run. It is in his blood.

I'm telling you, if his knees hold up, he will be the best running back at SMU in years.

As I'm sure you can tell, I am a Hawaii fan and have zero knowledge of SMU at this point. But I do know the Run & Shoot and I do know JJ. Typically, in college, he hasn't run the ball a lot. Backs are used as pass blockers and catch shovel passes, screens and run some draws.
Throughout his career JJ has preferred RB's that are big... in Atlanta he had Ironhead Heyward, last year Hawaii had Nate Illoa, who was small in height, but like a wrecking ball once he was carrying or receiving.
Jones tends to throw a lot more in college than he did in the pros, and unless SMU has an absolute stud at RB, that is unlikely to change much. He just prefers throwing. For what it's worth, in the Run & Shoot the RB is known as the SB... it stands for Super Back. He must be smart, be able to pass block, run with power... the ability to break at least the initial tackle is vital, and have good hands for screens and shovel passes.

Well, the reports say he is meeting there (SMU) and the only other thing I have heard, this was through his agent, was that an NFL team had contacted him, (Steinberg). What level is that interest? No idea. My guess is it is Buffalo, but there have been no confirmations on that.
He resigned at Hawaii... and unless a miracle occurs and they fire Frazier, the AD in Hawaii, and come through on their promises to provide better facilities, then I feel he'll be your guy. I know his heart is in Hawaii and this decision is very painful for him. I'd say there is still a chance he could stay, but probably very slim right now.

Can't speak on someone who has not played. If he has knee problems before he has even played, count him out of the spread/run and shoot/west coast.
