I am starting to agree that Junebug's heart is not in SMU. I would go to Iraq for 2mil a year. I would rather have a coach like Fran that wants to be here and has something to prove.
"Jones and Steinberg had lunch at the home of billionaire booster Gerald Ford, then met with the search committee, which made the formal offer. He had dinner Sunday night with a group of alumni."
Did I miss something??? Were we supposed to be somewhere for dinner?
I never would have dreamed where we now find ourselves: begging for Hawaii's coach to take our money while watching Tulsa play in its fourth bowl in five years.
We lose this and we take another gut shot in a long line of gut shots. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!
The bad news is there's no mention in that article of a snag like needing to be released from his deal at Hawaii. It sounds like this is just simply a decision of whether he wants to be here or there.
The good news is that he's here, he's having dinner with SMU alumni and his agent says the SMU folks couldn't be nicer. We have the face-to-face sales job going on tonight while Hawaii has to settle for e-mail and phone calls. Either way, he's apparently going to decide tonight. I'm okay with that.
