June Jones' father in law is on the SMU selection committee?

I think that is the first I have heard of that. Who is he?

If his father-in-law is on the committee it is very bad. JJ divorced his wife.

June has not rebooked his original flight. First class seats are available on both direct flights between DFW & HNL tomorrow so he surely would have just switched days and not bought a new ticket.

As of right now, this appears to be false. However, it is possible that he leaves on a different airline or private jet with his agent.

Maybe, just MAYBE, it's just taking JJ a while to swallow the decision he has already made. I know when I have to give bad news to someone I care about, it usually takes me a few tries. If he loves Hawaii as much as it appears he does, but realizes his time there needs to come to an end, then he might want to hold off on the press conferences and announcements until he tells a few people (friends and maybe some players) directly that he is coming to SMU?

Then again, I keep thinking I'm going to bed, and I just keep postponing it to scour the internet for any updated info.

Thanks man. We appreciate some lightheartedness from a UH fan. It's getting tense over here on the mainland!

Given where it stands RIGHT NOW (at midnight in dallas), I am pleased we didnt hear late tonight. As you point out, this is a decision he felt he had made and it is difficult for him to actually go through with it. Given this, I think he would rather just announce tomorrow and let Hawaii wake up to it than announce as the day ends here in Dallas in the middle of primetime TV in Hawaii. Although this is just speculation, I imagine he wants the news to break as easy as possible over there... assuming, of course, that he has not changed his mind.

Steinberg said Jones was still up at 11 p.m. Central, and the agent said he doesn’t know if his client will make a decision tonight or decide to sleep on it.

Great. Just fing great. Notwithstanding the fact that I prefer Fran (right/wrong/indifferent), I am very disappointed with losing Johnson and now Jones (if indeed he feels compelled to go back to Hawaii). But in any case, this search has gone terrible. It was approached at the outset with one hand tied behind its back with Turner's comments about wanting a coach with no controversial past, there appeared to be absolutely no sense of real urgency, scheduling was a bear, and the ADs gag order has completely disenchanted the faithful, relegating us to chasing airplane tail numbers and purple hippos.

And to top it off, SMU waited for Paul Johnson. [deleted]tease.
SMU waited for June Jones. Marriagekiller.
SMU blew off Bowden, Barnett, and to some degree Neuhisel. Well, we are all quite familiar with arrogance and snobbery.
And the delay has simply rocked recruiting. Just killed it.
Couldn't have gone any more screwed up.

If we lose Fran, then I wonder whether SMU would have been better off under Bennett for the final year of his contract?

That does say "caused pause"

That does not mean that it created a u-turn or that he is going to hit rewind.

Here's to hoping that he just hit pause for a bit to take some calls from an old friend and will keep moving forward to Highland Park!

"Headed to Overtime" title is rubbing it in. We are 0-3 in Overtime. We aren't strong in Overtime-and sadly we got the ball first
