He played center for Texas State in the late 80's and helped the school to their first win in the year after the NCAA delivered sanctions on the school.
There are a bunch of Tuiasasopo family members who played / are playing football. Manu played at UCLA back in the early 80s, but it doesn't sound like this is the same dude. At least 3 of his nephews played at Washington, and I think one of them (Marques) is the backup QB for the Raiders. I've never heard of the one who played for Texas State.

If it makes anyone feel better, the marginal state income tax rate in Hawaii is 6.4% over $100,000 in income (smaller % on $25k to $100k). The tax bite on $2.5 m would be almost $160,000.
If we just talking about U of H offering $1.5 m, the state income tax would approach $100,000.
