June Jones had a "For Rent" Sign
While I am as excited as anyone about this hire, the one thing I do not like is it feels like we have hired and outside consultant to come and help our company perform better.
We have a five-year deal with this consultant, but he is not really a Mustang, but just a Rainbow Warrior dressed up like a Mustang. Do not be surprised when Hawaii gets their act together and then June goes back to them to retire (with all new facilities). It will take them 5-Years to do that.
No doubt I will take it and he will leave us in a better place...but he is still a UH guy.

In that time, Coach Jones will have re-shaped the entire football program, won a bunch of games and stocked the roster with talent. If that's the case, I'll try to remember how the UH fans must have felt, and if he feels compelled to return to the beach, I'll pat him on the back, thank him for everything he's done and wish him well.
At that point, the SMU job will look one hell of a lot better to to the next candidates. If we lose him at that point .... so be it. It's a problem I'd love to have.

Is there any way that we can enjoy this for five freaking minutes before you people ruin it for the rest of us! I know that some of you out there would be upset if we just won a national title because we did not play well enough, but for the rest of us we are going to enjoy this moment that gives us so much hope!

That is not the point. The POINT was that he will leave this place better than it was and will hopefully "right" the ship...but the guy is a Hawaii guy. Nothing wrong with that. I would love to see an SMU guy take over a program and then come back because he is an SMU guy.
And for the 1000th time. I am an SMU supporter and could care less about Duke Football.

What would you have said about any of the other prospects. They all came from elsewhere. Did we need to hire an SMU alum? By the way, I am an Alum, I love SMU but I am not going to retire in Dallas.

None of the other prospects showed or have the relationship June does with Hawaii as a community and UH.
The other guys were more drifters than a "marked guy".
I respect the hell out of his loyalty to his school. Some guys get away from their school and become more of a part of the school that they are coaching than their alam mater.
AGAIN..happy to have him...just making a CORRECT observation.

I Agree! Clearly the loser/victim mentallity must be removed from this fan base. Enough already. This is a new day. I promise you we could have GJF hire Pete Carroll, transfer in every single player from USC, win the national championship and some of you guys would still find a way to complain.
