I don't care if he is a Mustang, Rainbow, Frog, or Hereford Whiteface if he leaves us better than he found us. Who the heck cares? I know that's the first thing I'll think of when we we finally take the field for a bowl game: "Dang, this sure is nice, but I'm not as excited as I could be because Coach Jones is not what Dukie says is a Mustang."
Who on earth fits your criteria? That is, a great coach with deep ties to SMU?
You can keep telling yourself you're correct; even if you are, it doesn't change the worthless nature of this thread. What are you trying to accomplish with this drivel?

I am VERY happy with this hire.
I was pointing out and it is STILL CORRECT. His heart is in Hawaii. Nothing more, nothing less. STOP reading into it.
As I have stated in all the other posts. Great hire, he will win, he will make SMU a better place. BUT he is still a Hawaii guy. That is all.
I didn't realize this site grew long hair and put on a skirt. Stop being so sensitive.

Dude, people aren't being "sensitive," they're making sensible rebuttals to your highly debatable post. FWIW, i'd rather SMU have gotten a guy who has fallen in love once, and may do so again (with SMU) -- that guy ain't going back to the ex who treated him like dirt, but maybe he'll stay with the new love interest. The one thing you can say if you hire a REAL hired gun (like Fran) is that he'll be out the door as soon as the weather improves.
And if you don't support Duke football, (a) you're a basketball bandwagoner and I have little respect for that; and (b) you should change your sig if you're going to post on the football page here.
I thought I read or heard somewhere that he only wanted to coach 5-6 more years before he retired.
I read that, as well. He said it a couple of months ago. So, he may head back to the Island to retire eventually, with a 10 million dollar Mustang nest egg to carry him through his golden years, but SMU could be his final coaching spot. Or he might change his mind. What can you do? He's here now and the best thing we can do is give him the support he needs to be succesful.
