that June Jones is a much better hire than Paul Johnson would have been?
Jones seems to have recruits' attention whereas Johnson made a lot of people nervous.
They are both "system" guys and great offensive coaches, but let's be thankful that Jones was the guy instead of Johnson.

Jones is a better fit for Willis, Sanders, Givens, etc......not sure how the current players would have responded to the option type of offense

A much bigger higher, and frankly, I prefer his throwing offense to Johnson's triple option. However, let's just be happy SMU has a good coach and focus on the other pieces to this puzzle. Results will determine how fortunate SMU is.

satisfied with jones... Johnson is ok... but jones has my heart! honestly how many kids want to go run the option in college? sure it's fun on playstation (eric crouch was unstoppable with the L1 & R1 juke move), but kids want to play in a run and shoot offense (see southlake). i think Johnson was a good back up plan, Jones was by far the right hire! even more then applebowden. there i said it.

When Johnson looked like the next coach my nonSMU friends needed further explanation as to who he was. When it was Jones, the reaction was "wow, how did SMU land him?".
The media attention and number of guests dropping by shows the positive impact of the Jones hire. Hopefully, an increased number of wins will further confirm that this was a huge hire!
