There is more revealing truth in that article about all the "sleepers" he allegedly finds in a cabbage patch than all the Yay! and Rah! Rahs! heard on this board in the last 2 days. You want a winning program-you need talent-you want talent-you are going to have make modifications in the way SMU conducts business. But those changes have already been made Right I heard Turner Orsini and Jones say so. I can't wait until SIGNING DATE.

Sorry for the Bizzaar analogy, but I think it makes the point. Stallion is correct in the type of athlete that Jones recruited at U of H, but I think it's a real stretch for him to assume that he did this out of anything but absolute necessity of his situation at U of H. A $50k recruiting budget, a location thousands of miles from the mainland, Jones had to do these things at U of H. If he was the head coach at UCLA, USC, or Georgia, he most likely would have never had to go to these measures.

Will he at SMU? I doubt it since the location and budget are much more in his favor.

So you mean he won't be getting the NFL level talent that made the program what it is into SMU?

We have no way of knowing what the real standards are. Until we see what happens, I'm going to assume Jones got enough concessions for him to be successful. [deleted] will resume when there is a reason to. I'm going to hope Turner/Orsini dodging questions related to admissions is just a way to keep the faculty from getting in an uproar.

JJ isn't going to have to recruit people from jail anymore because 1) he has a real recruiting budget and 2) he isn't having to convince people to go all the way to hawaii. i think he'll have an easier time getting more legitimate recruits.

You mean then that SMU will be recruiting the same kids they've recruited in 18 out of the last 19 losing seasons, but June Jones isn't going to be recruiting the same players that got him to 12-0 and the BCS Sugar Bowl? I distinctly heard the SMU brass say that now we are nationally competitive in player recruitment and that June Jones can recruit under the same standards that he is used to. Anybody know when SIGNING DATE is?

JJ did not have a JJ Model but a Hawaii model. He adapted to the circumstances, which is why he is an outstanding coach. He nows has a SMU model that I am sure was a topic of conversation over the weekend. I have full confidence that he will again adapt to his new circumstances, including a much larger recruiting budget and a fertile recruiting area, and bring in the caliber of player that will take us to the next level. Under the SMU model, he will not have to bring in players with baggage. I have not attacked you like some of the posters on this board because you do occasionally make some very good points and provide good information. However, I do not understand your constant, unrelenting negatively toward the SMU athletic program. I do not know if there is anything SMU could do to change this. You will always be the devils advocate but one with no answers.

Does anyone know what score is considered 'failing' and if the NCAA has given any school a warning?

Noticed that Auburn and Southern Miss have 2 of the higher scores.

You would think if they could do it so can we.
