I have to credit Stallion, for a good diversion tactic. Redirecting attention, from his emphatic carpet bombing, that JJ would NOT come to SMU, and he was not a good fit. At least he's honest enough, to realize, he has to be on this board 24/7. Hey, he's a season ticket holder.....welcome to the sunshine club Stallion! Now, show that you are a man of your word, and actually do something to help this program.....join the Mustang Club!
I thought Jones only said that he was satisfied with the "model" and was fine with it. We shall see what the real model is come signing day probably in 2009 since the 2008 4 star players have been harvested. One thing to understand is that we have tons of academic help for our players, and part of what bothered Jones was UH parsimony in that area as well as others. When he talks about facilities and committement, part of that is that committment to make sure that once players get here, that they are given help they need to succeed academically. There are few players so stupid that if given some tutoring and help, will not be able to graduate from SMU in six years. And you really don't want players that dumb. A school that has a bad APR probably lacks committment to their players to get them the academic help they need.
Stallion: The June Jones Model also has a $50,000 recruiting budget. What do you suggest Mr. Jones do with the rest of the money? The June Jones Model also involves him not making recruiting trips. What do you suggest he do with his time? The June Jones Model also involves paying assistants next to nothing. What do you suggest Jones do with that money?
It's obvious June Jones and HIS Model know more about football in his little finger than any of us know..
![]() What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
To be honest with all of you, I this was not the "WOW" hire I had heard about, but it sure is a hell of a lot better than fran. However, I can't believe that people are already beating down how he does things. I think that I am more concerned about how many wins we have than how many of our players make the deans list. I think that everyone wants to win here, but don’t keep putting "only if's" into our thinking. Here’s me officially jumping on the band wagon. Good luck coach and if you are in need of assistants, give me a call.
Auburn and USM have the obligatory Lesiure Studies Management, Phys Ed and Interdiscplinary Majors to boost their grad rates.
The goal is Top 25. A few questions:
Recruiting from prison was necessary at Hawaii, but is it here with our recruiting budget and the fact that we're smack dab right in the middle of the most fertile recruiting ground in the US of A? As undeniably crucial as recruiting is, isn't there another part to the equation necessary to get us to Top 25 status: Coaching? (Coaching of course involves not just "motivating the boys," but also choice of offensive and defensive schemes, selecting from available players the best fits for that scheme, gameday x's and o's -- the list goes on and on). Is it not possible for us to get to Top 25 status without having to replicate exactly what fit at Hawaii? Or do we expect Jones to force fit what worked there to here?
Sorry 35, everyone knows if an assistant is going to come out of ponyfans, it's gonna be BigDaddy! Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Hopefully we can now recruit football players who are students and not students who are football players!!! The 100% graduation rate that got Phil Bennett can gladly lose some percentage points if it gets us winning seasons and bowl games on a regular basis!!
I would think you would want to defend the unsuccessful bank robbers, at least they can tell you where the money is hidden befoe they go to penn............
