Circle of Champions-Ponyfans Unit

Postby mustangbill67 » Wed Jan 09, 2008 4:13 pm

In an article about the Circle in today’s DMN, SO said that some of the donors had not given to SMU since the DP (my apologies to JStang on a Mustang club donation being a requirement for Circle membership). He also said that the Circle was currently composed of 20 units and some of these units were composed of groups of donors. In addition, he said that the Circle was not capped at 20. Circle donations in excess of the $10 million for JJ will be applied to other athletic programs. Sort of a super Mustang Club, I guess.

What this means is that you could have a $500,000 5 year unit composed of numerous donors. For example, 100 people pledging $1000 a year for 5 years, 200 at $500 etc. Any interest out there in forming a unit of Ponyfans for the Circle or perhaps a unit of those of us over 50 (silver mustangs). Just a thought!

I am. In fact, if you will send me all of your check, i will deposit them in an account and have them submitted to SO. I'll do it anonymously, of course, so you will probably not hear any mention of this again. Just be sure to send your checks by January 31 of each year.

Thanks for all of your support!

You know I'll be honest. I don't make anywhere near 100K a year. I'm only 24 and starting out in my profession. Don't get me wrong I love my job (I'm traveling 80% of the time) and the career path I've chosen is lucrative if I stick with it. But even at my modest wage, I've decided to give 200 bucks to the Mustang Club in light of their amazing commitment to the future of our football program (it will actually be 400 b/c my company will match any donation to an institution of higher learning). 400 bucks isn't much, but its a start. I'm going to start donating yearly to the Mustang Club and I hope to increase my donation by 50% each year for the next five years. I hope I make a difference.

My request to you is to get back in touch with some of your former classmates and see if you can't get them to just give 100 bucks to the Mustang Club. They aren't going to miss 100 bucks. Hell if you eat Subway instead Chili's for lunch for a month you'll save 100 bucks. But if we all pitch in just a little, it can make a difference. We need to show the Circle of Champions, the Mustang Club, and we the alumni of SMU that we can rally this thing back to glory. I believe we can.

P.S. Who do I need to contact at the Mustang Club to make my donation? Thanks.
Back off Warchild seriously.
