Precisely. Why the heck should we believe Kate?
I'll tell you why I believe Kate. If she was wrong, there would have been a story, correction or clarification on Jones' salary numbers the next or today. And I also think she got those numbers from Leigh Steinberg.
And the detail of the 20 donors offering $100,000 for 5 years. When you have that of information, it's pretty solid.
Strangely, SMU has been pretty silent except to the announcers who they employ and are basically their puppets. No offense to Rich Phillips.

While there's been no 'official confirmation' of what's been reported, there has also been no 'official denial' of it. SMU is a private university and does not have to reveal anything publicly about this transaction. Of course, it doesn't hurt for the school to let this information 'hang' in the air. It shows there's now a commitment to turning this ship around....I hope.

We said the same thing two different ways. Actually, I liked your response better.

There were many, many rumors about the money. I do not think we will ever know the full package, but one of the early statements in reference to the $2,000,000 donor money was that it was for the HC AND the assistants. Also, we alledgedly still have the budgeted HC and assistant money from the University to add to the package. I do not care as long as we get a good team in place.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

Not true. Steve is telling it like it is. He is not the type of person to play games and/or lie.
There is no upside / reason for him to lie about who he interviewed, offered, etc.
He has nothing to hide - he landed his fish for us.

My guess is that they were working hard to get everyone on their list. It just turns out that Johnson was available first.
Some may be trying to say that we got our second choice but I do not see it that way. JJ is so much a better fit for SMU.
Go Ponies!! Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
