His take on June Jones to SMU was just a from-the-hip, kneejerk reaction without any forethought or actual research. In other words, perfect for the internet.

Skip Bayless said it sent up red flags that SMU was on a dangerous path back to the Death Penalty. :?: Because we're paying a coach instead of the players?

There is no greater proof that you don't have to be good at what you do to be successful in America than Skip Bayliss. He is without a doubt the WORST member of the sports media.
Back off Warchild seriously.

JJ's shot was at the adminstration of Hawaii which is the group he was pissed off at...he probably should have been VERY clear so it couldn't be taken out of context. It seems Hawaii fans know what he's talking about and aren't mad at him, just mad at poor administration...

Since when do they teach English at Froggy High?

Absolutely right. He makes Musberger look like a credible journalist.

Seriously, who does Bayless have pictures of at ESPN to keep his gig?

Or to keep ANY gig?

Longtime wrote:I don't know much about his work, but his facts are wrong. Jones was having trouble finding work when Hawaii hired him? I believe he was offered the San Diego Chargers job and turned it down in favor of Hawaii. Unless that's just an Island legend.

Offensive guys with June Jones' resume never have trouble finding work. This is an exceptionallly biased piece of writing.

Absolutely correct! JJ in fact turned down about 5 times what he got at Hawaii, because it was what he really wanted to do. The people in San Diego, (Owner and GM at the time) love June and were devastated he turned them down.

If anybody has this guys email... can you PM it to me? I'd like to write him a nice letter, with links to back it up, and show this guy just how clueless he is.

The Washington Post has Mike Wise, a funny guy, who also responds to his emails. But he doesn't do a lot of research and shoots from the hip and gets called on it. One time he criticized the University of Maryland for scheduling William and Mary in football (forgetting the fact that the DC area has a ton of W&M alums who have some pride in a 1-AA program that seems to give 1-A teams fits). He got showered with emails and dutifully responded to all of them. After MD had trouble with the Tribe, he printed a backhanded column admitting he didn't know everything, and promised to remember that DC has a ton of W&M alums.

I sent an Email to Gregg as well as his editor. It is absolutely unacceptable that in today's world, with the Internet at our fingertips, a writer is allowed to get away with writing pure lies.

Thanks to Big Hoss for the link to Gregg's email.

Mr Easterbrook can have his opinion as thats what he is paid to do. JJ can come here and make more money and win more games, thats what he is paid to do. Sounds like a WIN-WIN.
