Back to Earth!!!

Postby methodistmustang » Thu Nov 20, 2003 9:16 pm

The little froggies have finally been brought back to earth...after having to listen to little froggies talk about how they belong in the Big 12 for weeks they have finally lost. After barely beating a crappy Tulane team and an underachieving UAB team they are finally going to be beat. Now maybe that whole MWC thing won't be so appealing to them. After this beating they almost look mediocre. I wouldn't put them above any team but Baylor in the Big 12. I think UNT would have a good chance at them. Nevertheless, we suck and our team could not be trusted to knock of the horny lizards so thank goodness Southern Miss did it for us. Let's hope next season arrives as fast as possible. I will be at the game in Red and Blue until the final whistle and I haven't lost hope for a victory against them, but I'm not optimistic. I'm also considering buying a Southern Miss hat to wear to the game to avoid ridicule (just kidding...never would I disgrace my college by wearing another college's paraphenalia on its campus).

I will say this. It is quite strange to me that if this score holds up, they've never won a championship in the conference that believe they're too good for.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Just out of curiosity...do you go to the games from Longview? I mean I know it's only a 2 hour drive or so but that's kinda far to see an 0-10 team play. I'd do it. I'd just like to know if you do it.

Just out of curiosity...who played in the Liberty Bowl as CUSA champions last year? And I'm pretty sure that championship trophy in the Justin Center is still there.

A friend and his wife have made the trip up from Houston for every home game (I know - they stay with me) -- 4-plus hours each way. And they'll be here a couple days after Thanksgiving, too. And not only that, we've been inside Ford Stadium in time to watch the Ponies warm up for every game, and we stay until the final whistle blows. And we're planning on doing it again next year! And the year after that. And the year after that. And ....

Yes I do drive up from Longview for every home game. I dont get to go to many away games but I did happen to make the game vs Baylor and the game vs Louisana Tech. Every game my grandparents (grandfather who is closin in on 90 and grandmother closin in on 80), mom, sister, and whoever else I want to seeing as I have one extra ticket every game (bring a different person everytime. Everyone Ive brought has loved SMU's campus and Loves sittin up in the press box)

Get those heliotrope pollywog bowl shirts ready. Would cTu be "home" or "visitor" in the Fort Worth Bowl?

I don't know why any SMU fan was happy to see the Frogs lose. I, personally would love to see someone mess up the BCS party. I would, obviously, like to see the Ponies beat TCU but this isn't a victory for non BCS schools.

It's amazing that anyone would laugh at any bowl that another school was going to. I'd kill to watch SMU in a bowl game.

But hey, the gap isn't as large today as it was yesterday. And next year, we can only go up.

Hey Berg, would you like to predict, based on the next game and next year's schedule, when the next SMU victory will be.

I'm waiting for the gap to be reversed.Current trends don't look to good to me right now.

TCU had a good team this year, but their record is a product of their schedule. They were frankly overrated simply because they were undefeated. They remind me of the BYU team that won 12 straight a couple of years ago and wanted into the BCS. . .until Hawaii hung 72 on them in the last week of the season. Hawaii was the first really good team BYU had faced that season. Same goes for Southern Miss and TCU this year. Say what you will about TCU, if they were in the Big 12 they would have lost most of their conference games.

An interesting take on TCU was the Arizona coach, who was complimentary but said that TCU couldn't compete with the good Pac-10 teams in terms of atheletes.

That being said, we should stop wasting time thinking about TCU. They are going to the MWC in 2 years and we probably won't play them again after that. Frankly, I don't think that's much of a loss for either school. I was far more upset by the discontinuation of our annual series with Arkansas. I would much rather have the Razorbacks on the schedule than TCU.

Also, we have enough to worry about building our own program and shouldn't waste time crowing over a team that has vastly surpassed ours in every measure for more than 5 years now.

Oh I agree, someone needs to crash that party. Just not them. Because guess what the answer to EVERY argument against their program would be for the next 50 years!!!
Far Future Mustang: Dude, you haven't won a single game in three seasons. We've beat you by more than 68 points in the last 2 games we've played you. When are you going to admit that you suck?
Far Future Horney Toad: Whatever, we got to a BCS bowl game in 03. I can't hear you!
