Don't get me wrong, OU has a program I would kill for, and some of my closest friends are active alums, so I take every chance to give them hell about it.
Everybody hates a winner, so I can't wait til JJ has the rest of the nation making turned against SMU becuase of their newly-found on-field success!

That newspaper is a notch above the Greensheet. What a pitiful rag. If SMU is acoaching graveyard then the Oklahoman is what happens to all those community college journalism majors.

I stand corrected. The Oklahoman is a great place to look in the classifieds and find a used mobile home trailer.

Did that guy write an article on the danger of football boosters when Boone Pickens gave a gazillion dollars to OSU football and told the protesting faculty who thought it should go to the school's general fund, "It's my money and I'll spend it how I want to"?

Like Barry used to say: "Recruiting has really changed, it used to be I'd put $200,000 in an athletic bag, throw it my car trunk and get all the Texas recruits I needed"...yah, Barry things have changed south of the Red River, but nothing has changed at OU!

When I was living briefly in Utah I distinctly remember that a cesspool near Provo was officially named "Barry Switzer Reservoir", after some less than respectful comments he made at the time about BYU

So I sent an e-mail to Berry Tramel and he actually responded. Here was the quick exchange:
My e-mail to him:
So SMU has the "most sordid past in college football"? Last time I checked, a lot has happened in the last 20 years since SMU received the death penalty.
- OU quarterback Rhett Bomar got busted for "working" for a school booster at a car dealership - The Colorado program had numerous NCAA violations while Rick Neuheisel was coach, and had a rape scandal while Gary Barnett was coach - Auburn served a 2-year probation under Terry Bowden for violations - Florida State just suspended 25+ players for cheating in the same class - Mississippi State is nearing the end of its 4 year probation for recruiting violations
This is just the tip of the iceberg, and you know it. So why don't you save what little creativity you have, and go write about real sports news - like OU losing yet another BCS bowl game!
Eric Dickerson once made the comment that he would have made more had he gone to Texas! But no one wanted to see Texas taken down or any of the other big schools for that matter, all of whom were guilty of the exact same practices.
His response: Thanks for writing. To answer your original question, yes, SMU has the most sordid past in college football. And it's not even close.
Thought about e-mailing him back again, but decided he wasn't worth it. What a tool.

To Oklahoma fans, nothing good happens south of the Red River.

Let it go. It pisses me off, too, but he wtrites in OKLAHOMA! Not an overabundance of literary prowess comes out of that area last time I checked. It's not like it's the New York Times. Like I said earlier, if it's not OU football, they will never have anything good to say about it.

I have. That's why I didn't respond back to him again. Just felt good to fire one shot over the bow with the moron. The best revenge will be seeing JJ coaching our team in a bowl game soon.

That guy is a moron. It's no wonder he can't get a job outside OK.

Not that the DMN doesn't have a few morons, but they're smart enough to know to pump UT.
