There are multiple reports out there that Marcus Carter is done as a football player at SMU. He reportedly will transfer to Texas A&M -- where he will play BASKETBALL. (Remember he averaged somewhere around 30 points a game at Rusk High School -- the guy can play.)
Think our coaches knew that when they went out and got the three receivers in this year's recruiting class?
Best of luck to Marcus in College Station, if this is in fact true. And the sources are reliable enough that I'm sure it is.

Well, as unfortunate as it is, it won't be a big loss for SMU. I do not mean that he was not a good football player but only he was not used. We don't know how good he is or could have been. I don't blame him for his decision. Good luck to Marcus.

Marcus is transfering and is going to play bball at A&M.
Stanglover is right, this is not too much of a loss for us because the coaches did not utilize him enough. He had talent, but did not get the ball thrown to him enough.
Hopefully no one else is going.

I disagree that losing Marcus is no great loss. We can ALWAYS use more receivers. Those who remain are talented (Cunningham, Cardwell, etc.) and there is some size (Freeman has nice height and speed, but he's thin, McDearman is built like a tank and has great hands but they won't throw to him, Ford looks like an H-back lined up out wide -- and has done well at his newest position), and the new guys coming in next year seem to have promise, but Marcus has a nice combination of size, decent-but-not-great speed, superior leaping ability and athleticism. We can always use another guy like that, even on the chance he develops as a receiver.
Also, I've had the chance to meet Marcus a few times (he gave an autograph to my nephew, who treats that thing like it's solid gold), and he is a classy young man who will be as much of a credit to A&M as he is to SMU. Here's hoping he has all the success in the world playing hoops at A&M. Going to College Station from Dallas is going to be one hell of a culture shock, but I hope he does well. (Of course, in that program he'll be a superstar the day he sets on campus .... but then nobody will notice, because nobody knows the Aggies have a basketball team.)

Sorry to see Marcus leaving. We need all the big WR's we can get, especially if the coaches start calling plays for them.

That is a valid point. Now that Marcus is gone, our size at WR decreases drastically.

But we do have some size coming in this year with Jay Taylor.
Still, every bit counts.

We could have used Marcus on the basketball court against TCU. With Floyd out, we were playing with a short bench. Willie Davis and Jibran Kelley fouled out, meaning we had to try to come back in the last few minutes with Mike Niemi and Nigel Smith on the floor. Nice players who have their roles, but neither is an offensive force. At least not yet.

Has Marcus already left school? Is there any way we can talk him into staying?
