300 wins is a sign not only of great longevity, but of excellence over a long period of time. We're so lucky to have Coach R - congratulations.
Point Guard play
I think the issue with your comments sometimes is that you give no credit to the current starting point guard. Samuels at this point has settled in and is clearly running the team and also getting her shots off as well. Samuels and Hill are two different types of players however are effective in their own right. Samuels is a better shooter and the description that most defines her is she is a very solid point guard. She sees the floor well, she distributes the ball effectively, she could increase on her ability to penetrate however she is most effective on the kick out off someone else's penetration because she stretches the defense. Both can create their own shot however Samuels is more traditional in running the team however she is an offensive minded PG. Hill's game is based on more penetration and the mid-range game and she passes extremely well in traffic. Next year it should really be exciting to see both of them play together. Rhonda has done a very good job of getting everyone to buy into their respective roles and this team is now poised to get on a good roll. Bottomline it would be nice to see you give accolades to other contributing players. "Failure is not an option"
That's fine. But there are some on this board who think that I am suggesting that Hill is better than Samuels just because I didn't mention her.
I tracked Jillian in hs so and I know she does a good job running this team. Just making a point of what I think of Hill -- that's all. We're getting a little bit up in arms over this. Be thankful there are some of us that really care about the success of the women's BB team.
You are absolutely correct regarding that and thank goodness there are those who truly care about the program. Whats interesting is that I have tracked Samuels as well and I can't remember anytime last year you provided any assessment of her like that and she was a major contributor last year as a freshman averaging 8 points and over 20 mins a game. This is really a mute point. You are entitled to say what you want about any one you want. I just find it interesting as well but I don't want this discussion to take away from the current success of the program. It's great to even be discussing the women on this board and the success they are enjoying! Go Lady Mustangs!!! "Failure is not an option"
You would be correct that I never wrote anything about Jillian last year. Who knows why? It may be that Hill just made an impression, and I watched her in HS. It might also be I'm a little more familiar with her than Jillian. But let's get it done at East Carolina and Marshall. Winning on the road in conference BB is hard. This team really has a chance to be very special.
Well only you know why and it's okay. I am familiar with both however I followed Jillian a little more closer. Both are great players and I am pleased that Jillian is getting a chance to really show her stuff. You are correct again in that this team is settling in to playing up to their potential and I believe that they will do some very special things. This will be a good test for them and I believe they will do very well on the road. "Failure is not an option"
Well, since we're discussing this, I really like the way Delisha Wills is playing around the basket. Her physical play is something you really need in conference play. Love the outlet breaks to her -- especially the one that she caught in midair under the basket and put it in -- think that was in the first half against So. Miss.
The thing is D Wills is a straight monster and has been since she was in HS. I have had the pleasure of seeing both Jillian and Delisha play since middle school and during the summers while coming up. That combination will become even more deadly and we should be able to count on at least 3 lay-ups a game from that outlet pass to her. I have always loved her game and she is one of the most under rated players in the country. To me!
"Failure is not an option"
Had a friend of mine tell that if she was 6-2, she would have had Tennessee and UConn -- or the likes of come after her. I just like her game around the basket. Tenacious rebounder. All-CUSA if the season goes the way we hope it does.
Absolutely. I agree with you and GSP - should be first-team all-CUSA. No question about it. Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
