This is a bit stale by now, but i am surprised that no one has mentioned what I think is a quite promising quote from Doh in regards to Jones and fixes to the Model...seems he's in a position to know.

New SMU football coach June Jones is back from Hawaii. Looking forward to sitting down with him tomorrow.

Jones already has a big supporter in SMU men's basketball coach Matt Doherty, who met with Jones before the introductory news conference last week.

Doherty said he's already felt the bump Jones' hire is giving to SMU athletics as a whole.

"We’re serious about athletics," Doherty said. "I think everybody in the country knows it now. There’s an infrastructure that is rapidly being put in place that will help us bring in the players we need to bring in to be successful.

"...It raised the profile of everything here. You can’t bring in a coach like June Jones without giving him the infrastructure to be successful. There’s got to be things in place, whether it be marketing, academic support, admissions, curriculum. Otherwise, it’s foolish. It’s like buying a Mercedes and putting an AM radio in. There’s going to be a sweet stereo and nice, leather seats."

On the contrary, thanks for sharing it. I would think you could expect Kate to have a big profile on Jones soon -- maybe Sunday. I'm sure she's done some background interviews already.

Again, the lip service is great, but at least the Doherty quote signals the changes are across the board. We'll have to really see who we are competing for before we know how significant the changes are.

But with Jones being here, again, he doesn't come here if something is not ironclad.

I've heard everything is or will be addressed for us to be able to get anyone we want.

As others have stated, I will feel better when I actually see it; but, I have strong reason to believe the changes have and/or will occur.
