I missed the game and just caught the final. If anyone was there, was he there? Did they recognize him? What was the reception?
Thanks in advance.

He was there. He came in early and sat on the floor across from the bball team. One of the frat pledge classes started a "June Jones" chant. He acknowledged them with a wave. He was introduced during a timeout and he got a very warm and loud welcome. There was a pretty good size crowd so that helped. It started to die down and then picked up again. Several young kids went up to him with footballs, jerseys, etc and he autographed them. He gave a couple of interviews at halftime and then slipped quietly from Moody. I'm sure he is tired from all the back and forth travel, moving, recruiting, etc.

Coach Jones was introduced midway through the first half. He sat on the front row, midcourt, across from the SMU bench. He stood and received a standing ovation from a fairly large crowd. Everyone kept cheering and he stood a second time and waived to the crowd. I believe he didn't have any of his assistants with him.
Coach Jones was interviewed by the radio station at half time, and then interviewed several times as he made his way around the court for his exit.
They were handing out white t-shirts with "welcome June Jones" on the back, SMU Mustangs on the front.
It was a surprisingly decent crowd. A lot of Greek support at the game tonight. It was a nice welcome.

that summed it up nicely. I'm hoping he's busy at work watching film of recruits.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

he said in the tv interview he expected to steal a few recruits. he seemed very confident on that.

True...but it would have been nice if they had stayed for the WHOLE game instead of leaving about halfway thru the 2nd period. If you're gonna show up to "support the team", stay with 'em thru the end, win or lose.

you know what would really be nice? a game worth watching...you can take all your pride in being a "true fan" and staying for the whole game, but it's stupid to waste time

Man, you really got me there. Right in the heart. At least make a counterpoint about what I posted, and not about my username. Really, it's getting old. About as old as having to watch SMU athletics.
