When Briles did it we said it was sorry. This is even sorrier given we are one week closer to signing day.

Ouch - hope this doesn't come back to bite us.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

As alluded to on another thread, this is easily resolved by having one of the members of the Circle o Champions pay Owens a visit.

Mike Owens may carry some clout in Tyler, but next to a Brookshire, he's p@ssing in the wind.

If it got pulled because of his conditioning (which apparently was a contingency on the offer), then it's his own fault. And at 6 feet even, 340+, my guess is conditioning was at least part of the issue. Still sucks for the kid though. At least it sounds like he's got other options.

This isn't Russia Danny? It's not Russia right?

Let's pull back a second and realize that it's the individuals in high school that make the decision on where they want to go, not their communist coach.

Tyler Lee's Coach Owens KNOWS other schools such as ARKANSAS and BAYLOR have pulled scholarships in the last few weeks because of coaching changes also. He knows this happens sometimes with coaching changes. Yet he says SMU coaches will not be allowed on his campus to recruit "as long as he is coach. " Well coach, remember ARKANSAS and BAYLOR have done the same thing.....So Coach Owens, are you going to tell East Texas parents that ARKANSAS and BAYLOR are not allowed on your campus also to protect your players from them ???

That coach is way too full of himself. He's not running SLC or anything...

If he's that worried about the boy, he should have told him to mix in a salad. That kid is a heart attack waiting to happen at 5'11 and 345? DEW was the one that failed himself, by not reaching the conditioning agreements. Owens is a dad gum hypocrite.

Justified or not, losing recruiting privileges at a school like

Tyler Lee is not a positive beginning for the Jones era. :(

Cris Parry sports writer for the Tyler Morning Tele. says " As word of this gets out over Texas about Jones and his staff" it will not be easy for them to recruit...BUT HEY Mr. Parry, everything is OK for Petrino at ARKANSAS and Art Biles at BAYLOR who have pulled scolarships RECENTLY WITH COACHING CHANGES because they are not SMU right ?...........Most of us feel sorry for Dews, but......This article is such BS the way it ATTACKS SMU that I hope ALL SMU FANS will join me in writing/contacting Mr. Parry and ask him about why he and Coach Owens want to just attack SMU when others school in our area have pulled Texas kids Scholarships ???

F Tyler Lee. This won't make a bump in how coaches accept Jones and his staff. Being a hs coach I can tell you that coaches are foaming at the mouth for the opportunity to go and talk football with Jones and his staff. This all means nothing and the hillbillys in Tyler will forget about this as soon as their snuff cans are empty.

Cris Parry is a tool, and I imagine that there are more Tyler Lee SMU faithful that couldn't give less of a [deleted]. As for Owens, if he can get Andy Bergfeld on his side to go to bat for Dews, fine. Otherwise, he and his selective holier-than-thou angst can go pound sand.
