This article explains pretty clearly that McJunkin may be a late developer. Kudos go to SCOOPS once again identifying him as a recruit.

What am I missing here? He's been given 1-star by Scout, 5.0 rated by rivals (although 2-stars) and he is a 256 lb Center????? He better start eating. What gives?

read the article-he's gained about 2 inches and 57 pounds in one year. Nobody noticed him because he was too small before. Apparently Cal, GT, AF and Navy have some interest. If a guy is a late bloomer sometimes the recruiters miss them. First Team All 5A

Plano C Blake McJunkin took an official visit to Texas last weekend. McJunkin's father, Kirk, played for Texas from 1982-83.

Okay, I believe I've come around. Let's get this kid. If anything, it looks like he's got drive.

JJ's kind of guy it seems - over achiever and late bloomer.

averaged 10 pancake blocks per game including this one:

5) Plano center Blake McJunkin had the block of the season tonight, driving one of Berkner's defenisve lineman about 15 yards down field before finishing off the pancake with lots of butter and syrup.

he is a 256 lb Center?????

I was 245 when I finished my Sr. year of High School ball and I ended up at over 300 by the time my college playing career was done, so its possible and he can add the weight and he has the frame and genes to do it.
Sports, and all that implies.

Recruiting the Plano area should always be a priority & getting their top OL would be a great start.

Would love to see us get his teammate Burkhead next year but that is going to be very difficult.
